blapped a hawk yesterday...

and it felt good except the killmail showed what i presume to be a failfit hawk.

i have no experience flying a hawk or using missiles/rockets but from the hawks description i would presume one should use missiles instead of rockets.

also from the description i really expected to lose.... yay for me \o/

so is this a failfit hawk or what?

He's tried to make a kiting hawk. It's not so much failfit more looks like a test of some sort. If he'd dual propped and dropped the invuln you'd be dead.

Nice kill, don't knock yourself when you think you've had it easy. :)

Thanks, but if it were a kiting fit wouldn't he have been better of using the bonused missiles?

In most kiting circumstances light missiles would be preferable. This guy has apparently decided (correctly) that the Hawk is too slow to kite, so has tried the rocket route for when he is inevitably caught (marginally higher dps with javelins). It doesn't work very well, as you've found out. He should have gone full kite and picked a better ship for it, gone full snipe Hawk with light missiles, or full brawling with brick tank. Perhaps even dual prop. His tries to do too much and ends up doing nothing.

The hull bonus is both Light Missiles and Rockets, it's not fantastically well worded but it does bonus both systems. The same with a lot (all?) of the frig/dessy missile hull bonus descriptions; they say missile but mean both. It's because there isn't really a word that describes both systems

so why then does the vengance get a bonus that says its for rockets and another bonus that says its for missiles?

im guessing the missile bonus applies to rockets as well and the rocket bonus is just for rockets?

CCP should really take a look at the wording then. its misleading and confusing.

CCP cannot help you , those descriptions are pretty clear.

Vengeance is an exception, it only gets rocket bonuses.

I wear my goggles at night.

Any spelling/grammatical errors come complimentary with my typing on a phone

Minor point of distinction, but "blapping" is not something you can do in a frigate 1v1 typically, unless you're interrupting a 1v1 with your sentry Dominix or Tornado or whatever.

But yeah rocket Hawk is a fail ship.
It can be easily kited because most people who fly them are too stupid to load Javelin cause 'OMG THE DPS NUMERZ TOO LOW WHEN I LOAD THAT STUFFZ BRO'

he's got a t2 small cpu rig and a cpu fit in his lowslot. Its clearly a failfit.

We blobbed a Hawk yesterday.

He was remarkably cool about losing a 250m Hawk to the five of us baddies in T1 frigs and Thrashers.
