it's not beside the point.

your entire statement was basically "look at mittens, he's not normal because of what happened at fanfest" when in fact, what happened at fanfest wasn't abnormal at all.

Sorry do you actually believe that publicly encouraging a large group of people to deliberately go after someone so they will kill themselves is normal....wow are you one seriously warped weirdo.....go see a psychiatrist now before you make onto the 10 most wanted list.

I am sorry but doing crap like that is so not normal. Next you will be saying its ok to push people off tall buildings because your bored.

encouraging one group of players to go after another is usually called content, in eve. however, "grr goons" means i guess that's not the case when the mittani does it?
how the recipient reacts to that is entirely on them. if people want to kill themselves because some one blew up their mackinaw then they are clearly the abnormal one.

not that it matters because you're "grr goons" goggles clearly cloud any judgement you have.

Had to look him up in game to see who the hell Ripard Teg was, saw he was in Rote Kapelle...

First thought to pop in my head was 'ya that makes sense'...

It has nothing to do with my viewpoint towards either Mit or the Goons....it has do with the simple fact that stuff like that is just plain wrong. If my mother did it my viewpoint wouldn't be any different. Lets face it you have to be one really stupid twit (polite version) to encourage people to help make someone kill themselves.
Face facts he was wrong, just because you are either his fanboi or alt doesn't alter the fact that it was a stupid thing to do.

i didn't say he was correct in what he did.

i'm just pointing out it doesn't mean he has mental health issues; clearly that is reserved for the guy who was going to kill himself over losing a ship in an online game.

This comes out to, very roughly, 300 billion ISK worth of PLEX being given directly to the command staff of the largest alliance in the game.
Since PLEX doesn't refine to anything, has no intrinsic value aside from what players assign to it, and since our leadership is already ridiculously wealthy, you should have no problem with this, right? After all CCP has a right to reward its content creators.

We've now got two CSMs on the record doing their mealy-mouthed best to distinguish this from T20. Follow along with the fun!

"It's okay for CCP to favor in game corporations for being successful, they just can't be secret about it!"

"The in game corporations CCP is favoring don't even really need the help!"

"The gifts being given by CCP to favored in game corporations aren't as valuable as they could be! They could be worth way more!"

"It's CCP's game and they can do what they want!"

Honestly, the exact same defenses raised by a rare couple of scrubs over the T20 incident. There are ONLY two real differences between these recent situations and the T20 scandal.

1) all of CCP is behind this, not a rogue employee (how does that make it better?)

2) this time, the player base is apparently a lot more willing to look the other way (granted, some of the defenders were already given secret ship rewards)

1) They were repurposed as special award ships. I don't recall any wailing and whining about that, do you.

2) Ships to be sold hardly constitute special magical ships that shouldn't be given away grr grr

1) CCP have been giving special award ships for a long, long time. Why is it suddenly a problem now

2) If you seriously need to ask what the difference is between CCP making a legitimate decision and 1 rogue employee directly breaking company policy then all I can ask is that you grow up, get a job and see how life actually works. I can't be bothered to talk to naive children.

malc, you're not an idiot. stop acting like one.
it's pretty ******* obvious that people have an issue with CCP secretly handing out assets to groups of players. this entire situations sets a precedent for ccp to just hand out whatever they want to whoever they want without a word about it. are you seriously suggesting that this is a good idea in any way whatsoever?

the ships are irrelevant, and who got the ships is also irrelevant.

Maybe because nobody knew about it before?

Maybe because only now we have found out how people have been getting in game items worth billions of isk for free?

I mean if its not a big deal and all of this is a much to do about nothing how about giving each null alliance which holds Sov (and TEST) 10 of them as well they are creating content.

After all its not like they hold any value is it?

So you're saying T20's actions were unacceptable not because of favoritism, but because they violated company policy at the time?
In other words, since company policy is now different, T20's actions would have today been perfectly fine?

Because if that's what you're saying, then you really don't understand what the issue is at all.

So... people are jealous because they didn't got a not so unique ship?

Or are they enraged because some of the not so clever market wannabee pvp'lers lost some investments with the Scorpions? Pirate I really hope that CCP will give more of these Scorpions out. The tears are so delicious xD

And I don't think that Chrippa deserves something. Somer financed my first BS, Chrippa is for me just another weirdo on the forums ;-)

I've agreed with you about a lot of things, Malcanis. But on the one thing that really matters, you inexplicably chose the wrong crowd to side with.

No I don't see the "huge" ISK value as much of an issue. For the following reasons:

1) The Somer people have more ISK than they know what to do with. The ISK value of this award is meaningless to them.

2) And that ISK value is pretty hypothetical. And it's based purely on the rarity of the Ishscorps given out so far. Note that so far. CCP have said outright that they've given these out before and they're going to be given out again. The mere fact of giving out another 30 has significantly reduced the rarity of these ships.

In fact I think that giving gametime to Somer would be much less appropriate than the Ishscorps. That really would be a straight up money gift, rather than what amounts to a set of harmless souveniers.

I realize this was back on page 2, but neither of there are good arguments. Even if the isk is meaningless to Somer, it's still CCP giving items of more value than most eve players will ever have in their wallets at any given time. What message does this send to new players? That their efforts are pointless, and they made a mistake in choosing their organization.

And to 2, the imprecise nature of the value is besides the point, they're still considerably valuable no matter how you slice it.

yes, giving another 30 out has reduced the rarity.... its a full 33% increase in supply....

and somer had her employees engage in insider trading with them for ~6 weeks, knowing the price would crash on them if anyone found out. they were able to sell their items at top dollar to a market that thought, wrongly, that only ~90 units existed.
