We voted for you to talk sense into CCP, let them know the players thoughts and feeings about development and keep them from doing dumb things. Not to white knight the dumbest thing they have done since Incarna.

If I was CSM I would be PISSED over the lack of communications from CCP over all this, any reasonable company that got called on the big givaway would have come clean and "oh actually we gave away 30 of them in Aug"

But they did not, CSM try their best but with CCP treating them as a joke means they can't be effective no matter how honest their intent.

That is disappointing, the post in question does not even try to explain the secrecy.
Why was a ship given to reward the community done so behind closed doors.. making it private just makes it all the more suspect and underhand.
Not exactly the response of someone claiming to represent the player base...

Ishokone Scorpions were nothing to do with the 'big giveaway' so why would they come up. They already announced a while back they were being used as community give aways, and as has been pointed out they aren't the only group that has gotten them either.

Am I entirely happy with this news. Of course not. But at the same time, this isn't a scandal of any worthy note. It's TMC trying to make news Fox style.

Apologies, that is not a position, I have played eve for nearly 10 years now and am happy to take things as they come, but you need to take into account this was reported to have happened in August, we are now in October, this is my only point.

On the overall take, I thing CCP have done a grant job over the years, i just get perplexed they keep making the same mistakes over and over again, for example they always bleet on about a free market, then secretly inject limited edition ships, that is just not cool

He is so wrong on this issue. If he is the kind of player CCP talks to I can see why they thought their blatant favoritism would be okay.

We are not jealous we just want the sandbox left alone. He is in a position to win gifts from CCP, can you say conflict of interest? And CCP clearly did give these Scorpions and the prizes to Somer through favoritism without a clear policy on how they would be given out in the future, such a system is open to all sorts of abuse and clearly has already been abused. If the CSM doesn't take an actual stand on this issue and if CCP doesn't back down I am quitting this game and going back to single players where I have the ability to enter cheat codes to make the game less fun and devalue all my time.

I thought you voted on the CSM because of their opinions? Therefore by expressing his opinions he is reflecting your vote.

While I deplored the idea of new gold magnates being deployed via somer blink and CCP's acts of secrecy [cos CCP are dumb] in giving somer blink folk Ishukone Scorpions, I do not deplore the somer blink folks given Ishukone scorpions due to the fact that A) CCP has stated they would give out ishukone scorpions in the future for various things, B) They only refine for what 1 trit or something like that and C) Their combat effectiveness being as some have said, not being as useful as a basic scorpion.

Ishukone scorpions are not the same as gold magnates, federal megathrons or guardian vexors. They are not extremely rare one of a kind ships, they are probably available for a decent amount of isk [i.e its not only the super rich that can afford them for the moment] and in a fight are not especially likely to show up. CCP has done some [very] stupid things in the recent past and barring not telling people that they would give the scorpions to somer blink characters, its not really worth tooting your trumpet about.

I think it's fine for a CSM to express their opinion, especially on their own blog. However, Ripard's post is an enormous ad hominem and appears to dismiss the opinions of the players upset over this issue as jealously they didn't get scorpions themselves. CCP may have the right to give gifts, but where the gifts confer significant ingame advantage by their enormous ISK value (even if meta, the value is there), players also have the right to question the fairness of the policy without being attacked by the person that's supposed to be taking feedback and representing player concerns, among other things

yeah but we had to vote for 12 of them, after 3 votes i was voting for people just to fill up the slots not because i actually agreed with anything they had to say, they were just the "lesser of about 15 other evils"

The CSM has been a joke since Mittens stepped down before he was pushed. CSM6 led the charge during monoclegate going to the press, challenging CCP and pushing the players concerns when CCP finally came around. This current lot spends their time telling us to shut up and stop complaining or explaining away CCPs fuckups while dancing around the issues. I think half of them are angling for a job.

Fox news twists stories and interviews to make the American government look good with little to no evidence at all. TMC may skew their articles to make the CFC look good at times, but at least they provide things like screen shots and chat logs with some of their articles. That and the fact that their article on this defies the overall governing authority of eve (the devs) instead of skewing it to make CCP look good is enough to differ them from fox news.

Lets face it. Love or hate TMC, without it we would be stuck with things like evenews 24 or kugutsumen.
