I'm here at a friends house.

I'm busy doing my own stuff but thought i'm taking a break.

He's playing GTA V ONLINE, driving races.

He's constantly bitching about these guys who keep bumping him,
complaining that if he wanted to play a game *that* way,
they should have called it Crash online or something. ^_^

Quite interesting. I am trying to explain it to him,
but he's pretty much unreachable.

He's proud of his "Clean Player" status or something in GTA V ONLINE,
and although i believe that's ridiculous, i accept that he is.

He's 20 and used to pretty much everything else than EvE,
which he has tried and he was ... *drumsrolls* a miner.
I don't really know anything else he did, besides that,
because that's all he told me.

Maybe i should have pushed him, but considering how he is bitching now,
it probably was a good idea i didn't. xD

He stopped already anyway, afaik.


What i need to add is that he calls these other players "Griefers" ...


It's really silly. ^_^

Sounds like he has some kind of holier than thou attitude in regards to "legitimate" playstyles.

Sorry mate, its GTA. If i want to pull you out of the car and slam your head with the door, i should damn well be able to.

As for eve, some get it, some dont.

I knew one person who still plays eve that spent most of his time in the British Army disarming IEDs in Afghanistan. In eve he spent his time mining and ninja running sites in low sec and tried to avoid pvp wherever possible.

It would be a funny world if we were all alike.

Yeah, we're not all alike, but he's just a spoiled brat in regards to this.

as if PVP is so dangerous that it's on the same level as EOD (explosive ordnance disposal)

Sol, just explain the concept that some people's preferred game experience is influencing the game experience of others.

...basically an awareness that other people choose to do things differently because they are different (and have motivations and a moral framework different from one's own).

Moral reasoning is another metric to define people's behavior... "do whatever I can get away with" (pre-conventional) vs "I should obey rules accepted by my greater social group" (conventional)

there was a time that I did not understand that people would break any rule that is vulnerable to being broken without incurring consequence. you might be in for a hangup due to your mate not being able to get his head over his belief that what's right is right.

the following relationship I will suggest is a bit of a jump, but: not understanding why other people would be disruptive in a video game is the same disconnect that causes people to wonder HOW a partner could cheat. not why, but -how- (and they find it morally inconceivable).

Rain ... if you'd listen to him, you'd not say anything too.

He plays 1vs1 deathmatches right now ... and when he wins,
the other guy mostly is a noob ...

And now his opponent outsmarts him considerably...
"He has a car ! I HAVE NO CAR ! THAT'S SO UNFAIR !!!"
... besides other things.

I really don't want to **** him off further. He's actually a nice guy,
but too spoiled by the "success" in other games.

It's somehow scary to listen to him, tbh. ^_^


Seriously, he's really mad right now. xD

This is the first time i enjoy tears. HAHAHAHA XD

He wants the most in the fastest way possible.

Now he finds more ways to make money. He realized he could do
what i have told him before (steal cars and sell them for money)
and now he found out there's an import/export market.
(he cheats and looks things up on the internet)


I believe that this displays one of the fundamental differences
between guys like me and him.

I think what can be done for the carebear is this:

invite him to Eve, let him get the hang of the game for a couple of weeks, and then when he's ready, lure him out to lowsec, steal everything he has, and then gank him.

Either he will be cured or he'll have a nervous breakdown and stop playing games. Either way the problem is solved.

No, i won't.
I already pointed out that it's no use.

Anyhow, he's improving. Despite ragequtting yesterday,
he acknowledged some of his mistakes and will try to improve.

Who would have funk!

What wonders me the most is how he approaches the game in his mind.
Knowing it's GTA V, he completely dismissed my idea of trying to rob stores.

"Not possible" was his reply ... only to realize, after looking it up on the internet,
that it is indeed possible to rob stores ... and steal cares and sell them ...

His complaining about how people race, with the reasoning that
"They should call it Crash Derby and not Racing" shows that he puts his
belief of how the game should be above what the game actually works.

He has no open mind at all and is purely driven by gratification.

Very interesting.


Reminds me of every other clueless EvE player who has no idea what to do ...
