I Stand w/ CCP and S.O.M.E.R. Blink

Look, I know it's getting hard for us CCP/Blink supporters, but we need to stand fast in these trying times. I believe with all my heart that CCP did what they did with the best of intentions, and that this whole situation is being blown way out of proportion by Goon knuckleheads & trolls. Post here to make your voice heard; show these nullbear try-hards that there is a silent majority in E.v.E. online that is perfectly content playing a gambling game with negative isk expectancy, the owners of which regularly have free ships gifted to them by the devs.

I don't mind SOMER and their 'employees' getting a gift from CCP for providing a huge service to the community which can be considered a second very boring job. God knows I wouldn't want to sit around in my free time punching in numbers and paying ISK to people.

However there's been a LOT of ISK going SOMER's way as of late. First a whole bunch of prizes to give away and now they get unique ships. Does it hurt the game? No, it really doesn't. No new ISK is being introduced into the economy. For the most part this is people being jealous over some people getting an expensive gift for essentially taking other peoples money. Yeah that stings, but it's part of the game.

What CCP needs to realize though is that they are showing extreme favoritism towards a single entity in the game. And since all EVE players are tin foil hat paranoid lunatics, everyone is going to assume corruption is involved in one way or another. True or not doesn't matter. The impression makes CCP look bad.

Their "huge service to the community" is and has been making them billion upon billions of isk. I fail to see why they should be rewarded again... It's there to create isk dude not to "provide a huge service".

I don't see redfrog/blackfrog getting trillions in handouts... Their service also has a FAR GREATER impact on eve than somer blink.

Im on record saying I dont mind it. I dont see what the bif deal is - I be CCP has given free ships n stuff to a **** ton of people. As a matter a fact, I KNOW they have.

People are just mad because THEY didnt get the free stuff.

If CCP wants to give free stuff to people that provide a great service to the community, Im all for it. The following I see as groups.people providing service to the community at large - Im sure Im missing some groups:

Somber Blink
Cribba
Goonswarm
Red Frog

If CCP wants to give stuff to these guys, Im all for it.

Spawning exclusive in game items on the quiet for an in game service is NOT part of the game. Ever.

This i agree with, and as soon as this story hits other main stream gaming sites, CCP's reputation for keeping out of their game and showing favoritism to none, is going to be blown out the water. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity but i disagree, being found out by your player base to be secretly spawning exclusive (and expensive) items for an in game entity is blatant favoritism and CCP will be outed as the biggest hyprocrites this side of Eden.

In short it's shattered any confidence i had in CCP to stay neutral.

I think the dude is trying to compare 100mish in xmass(insert winter holiday here) gifts granted to everyone to Over a trillion being granted to 1 group.

Answer that question - if you say "yes", then go on with your support.

I support CCP. Honestly my guess is this was a dumb move by someone who is now in way over his head - a business decision made by a guy who's job it is to give people warm fuzzies. A guy who clearly should stick to giving out fuzzies and run every single independent thought he has through someone with a brain. (sorry for the rhetoric)

And you can support CCP.

As for BLINK, they are effectively being paid by CCP. As long as you are okay with that, gamble away.

I for one with boycott BLINK, because the right thing for them to do would have been to refuse any gifts, favors, etc., that have any real value - in game at least, and out of game as well.

I won't flame you or hunt you for your opinion, but you should open your mind to the issues here. A meddling in the in game economy couples with the giving of gifts and endorsements that at the very least raise the specter of impropriety. Both of those things are bad, and anyone with a half a brain should have been able to avoid such missteps.

S-Seriously? Yes, yes it does. Yes, new ISK is being reintroduced. "Limited edition" ships are having more runs created. These ships are worth around 20bil a pop. CCP gave 30 of them to SOMER even before Magn-gate. 30*20bil = ???
