Please fix null sec lvl 1 & 2 mining missions (overpowered rats)

As I understand it, level 1 and 2 mining missions are intended for Ventures. The volume of ore you need to mine usually fit comfortably inside a Venture's ore hold. The Venture can hold two scout drones, enough to fight a small group of frigate rats.

Well, in null sec, your rats consist of battleships. The first few times I did level 1 & 2 mining missions in null sec, my Venture had to stand against fleets of battleships and cruisers.

Can CCP look at resolving, or at least balancing this issue? Battleships shouldn't be appearing in a level 1 or 2 mission, especially in non-combat missions.

Mining missions do not usually contains NPCs as a rule, but there is a chance that you'll get a "belt spawn" in most of those missions.

Those "belt spawns" are tied to the security rating of the system where the mission takes place.

It's the inverse problem with L4 mining missions in high sec : you only get a couple of frigates in them ...

Null sec is not designed to be "frigate friendly", or even "noob friendly" ... honestly, WHY do you run such low level missions with crappy pay out and specific mission ores when you have access to all the riches of null sec ?

Also, null sec is designed for group play ... you really should not be alone in there, but in a fleet, with Barges/Exhumers, an Orca, probably a Rorqual, and a combat wing to deal with the NPCs and the inevitable players looking for a gank.

Not meant for solo. Make friends.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Pretty sure level 1 and 2 mining missions existed LONG before Ventures were even a concept.

Some mining missions won't have any NPC's while other missions will have NPC's that need to be killed, ie "Data Mining". Also some missions just have a 50% chance to include NPC's like in "Coming 'Round The Mountain".

Level 1 or level 2 mining missions that actually do include an encounter aspect should only spawn NPC's equal to the level of the mission, not the system security level.

However, the type of NPC's that usually spawn in local Asteroid Belts will also randomly spawn in the Mining Missions. That's probably the reason for having Battleships spawn in the lower level mining missions.

About the only thing a solo mining mission runner can do is right after the NPC's spawn, warp out, get a combat ship and clear the site, then switch back to the mining ship.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I wouldn't go that far, you can certainly do level 1 and 2 combat missions in null with a frigate.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

Ah yes, but then combat missions have their own predefined set of NPCs, not belt rats, and you'll have the same mission NPC in hi, low or null sec, it entirely depends on the level of the agent.

And the main danger comes from the players then, not the mission ... a frigate in null is just waiting for a gang to pop up and gank it Twisted

The LP and ISK payouts might be better tough, if the formula is still the same, but I haven't missionned in low/null since 2009 ...

.

Of all of the ship classes a frig would have the greatest survivability in Null (other than a Covert ops and Nullified Cloaky T3) especially for the price.

With the new Inty changes coming soon they would most likely make a very good option for lvl1 and 2 Missions.
