The rest of the MMO industry?

The garbage that Blizzard pulled with that sparkle pony **** is pretty disgusting when you think of the money they were already making on subscriptions. That as one example is not a particularly good benchmark and more excepted I suspect because of the lower average age of the WoW playerbase who ignored the real motivation behind it.

Am I the only one that believes businesses these days should retain some ethics, rather than everything they do being merely about making more money. It's no wonder that the worlds economy is down the crapper and looking like being flushed completely.



The only idea I have seen for the NEX that I thought maybe wouldn't be to bad is the EVE Trading Card Game being converted to digital cards. Players could play the card game within EVE and bet cards,ISK,ships, etc on the outcome of matches. At least that way they would actually add something to the game.

But it appears that CCP prefers the quick and dirty method with NEX items. No additions to the sandbox or gameplay, just buy, look at for 5min then forget.

By the "rest of the industry" are you talking about :

A) Free to Play games (without subscriptions) or

B) Once subscription games that have effectively died being put on MT duty while heaving their last painful breaths on the descent into oblivion (and extracting the last pints of blood from their player base)

C) WoW.


Eve is not like "the rest of the industry". We have player revolutions that cause 180 degree turnarounds of development priority that get commemorated in game at Jita 4-4 by the grateful devs.

Take your herd-instinct dumbed-down I-wanna-$buy-x-because-its-too-challenging-to-achieve it-with-single-server-economic-sandbox-gameplay in-the-normal-Eve-methods and please go play one of these subscription+Microtransaction games instead.

But leave this one to players that respect the achievements made in the economic sandbox and feel that a successful subscription based MMO should not be nickel and diming on content in this way.

Remove NeX from Eve.
No microtransactions for ingame stuff.

im not really sure how i think about namechanges btw, as long as there is an easy way to find out what the character was called before the namechange i might not rage when its implemented for a Plex
