An issue that might have been brought up already is the fact that hyperlinked text is almost indistinguishable from regular text on SiSi.

Restore item link color in chat windows - pretty please yes.

And make decimal points bolder in icon item quantities, please Smile

The new font is a much welcome improvement.

* The new font is not A L L C A P S like the old one
* The new font is not U N PR O PE R LY HI N T E D like the old one
* The new font is not CONDENSED like the old one
* Numerals are discernible
* The new font seems to be 1 or 2 points bigger

All that collaborates to greater readability. Still, people with higher resolution screens will need a way to chose font size.

At "why so bold", there is a bug where all chat text actually is forced to bold. You can see it if you start typing in the input box, make half of it bold, compare the two, then compare again after sending. Sent it as a bug report (118656) alongside effectively invisible text (118652) and the known colorless links (118653), so hopefully they get fixed in time.

[quote=Aerilis]I agree it has greatly improved legibility and that's good, but the new font just seems too.... round. Doesn't seem sci-fi at all.

Just my 2c, make with it what you will.

Agree, it is too roundisch... for EvE.

The new font is much more readable then the old one. Thats very positiv.
But it somehow feels not right for EvE. It does not contribute very much to (or even brake) the immersion of flying through space in a dark cold futuristic world.

individual words/characters are more readable but sentences are worse. spacing is very odd and makes it difficult for scanning. the font is also too big.

It just feels.... ugly

90% scaling is more aimed at pilots with low resolution displays and are willing to have less readable text and get instead more space for windows

If the right click menues where still 100% size 90% would still be readable for all.

Links to info windows (chars/items, etc) are white in chat windows, but links to fittings are yellow.

The font looks better than last patch, but the spacing could do with a little tweaking, and the font in chat windows shouldn't be bold really, and make the names stand out more from chat text. Not sure if ISD/GM/CCP names are different colours (recently it was just the text, not the names). If not, they should be coloured.

Can we go lower then 90%? Moar space for windows is win++. My eyes are prefectly fine so the more info I can get crammed in the smaller space the better :)

Readability has nothing to do with "more space", a good font will scale correctly and be still readable when very small. I am highly disappointed that instead of at least explaining the technical limits you choosed to blame "more space for windows" just because you are unwilling or unable to tweak the pixels.

Also thanks for confirmimg the fact that CCP can never ever produce a good working font. I'm not sure I will be able to play with my laptop with a small-res screen anymore.

And the worse thing is that, at the smaller scale, the old font is actually more readable than the new font. At least I can make it into expanded width. But now I cannot.

We're not really scaling the font when we're scaling - we're scaling the whole UI. You can read more about how it works in my dev blog on UI Scaling.
