Worst addition ever. Kills the will to explore. Makes a mockery of skilling up to do this work. We'll settle for the removal of the ridiculous loot rush process, but would prefer the whole hog gone.

I like it, it forces people to balance paying attention to hacking and paying attention to not dying. And it's better than sitting and waiting.

But the spew sucks.

Game is fine, floating cans are not. Tho ... im fine with both in the end. I guess you can get used to it.

Honestly, it feels out of place, but I don't care if they remove it or not.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

I was hoping they improve it. It could conceivably be much better. But I was concerned from the outset that it would be a killer to exploration as we knew it before.

I don't know the hard data though. How many people that used to consider themselves explorers by trade, consider themselves explorers now? How many people do this still at the tail end of Odyssey, now that the novelty has worn off (and markets adjusted)? It seems to me from anecdotal evidence that more people do this now as a side activity and less people do this these days as a career.

Personally the hacking mini-game and the loot-spew turned me off so badly I never really gave it a serious thought. I've only done it on a few alts in the schools tutorial, in spite having a few characters dedicated to exploration before Odyssey.

The hacking concept seems out of place to me on exploration.

I suppose on data sites, it kind of fits.

I had hoped the hacking would be done on abandoned POSes and such, at least eventually. That would be worth the nuisance.

The mini-game is ok, can be fun. For added entertainment with it, make some silly challenges for yourself while doing it.

The loot spew sucks though.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

+1 The minigame and lootkake killed the main fun I had from this game.

So, you're a bounty hunter. No, that ain't it at all. Then what are you? I'm a bounty hunter.

No, don't remove it. I enjoy the game myself. It's a bit like a quick game of Bejeweled with a random prize at the end. To be honest, Eve could use more of these little games for other tasks too.

How exactly is doing a minigame more boring than pressing F1 and AFKing for a minute or 2??

One word: No.

Get used to it or leave exploration alone. The majority of the players enjoy this minigame. Instead: CCP, develop this further into what you showed last year in Berlin!

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad that a number of you like it.

I don't.

I made a thread.

I actually rather like the hacking minigame, and I hope CCP expands on hacking to make it useful against...other players?

If I recall they were also talking about being able to hold on to some of the utility subsystems and the like you find in databases and selling them on the market. Do want!

I am also a human, straggling between the present world... and our future. I am a regulator, a coordinator, one who is meant to guide the way.

Where's the challenge if there is no loot rush? If the stuff is just ready for the grabs in a container that doesn't move, it's a lot less entertaining and unchallenging. Besides, from your frustration I gather that you try to catch every can that appears? How about not doing this and concentrating on the valuable cans? Also, without this minigame and thus pre-Odyssey, I was sitting sometimes up to 5 minutes on a Databank and was watching my Hacker run cycles like a mad dog in a cage. Is this what you like to have back? I don't.

That's also what I like to see. Hack into anchored POS to transfer ownership for example. Or to interrupt/sabotage processes. Or to do the same with station services or ihubs/ihbu upgrades. Hacking and sabotage everywhere! This would then also justify training Hacking/Analyzing to V. Cool

Fair points. Keep em coming.

I have both skills at 5 and grab only the valuable cans. I also know you can spot which cans to hack with a loot analyzer in the mids so you know which ones to grab.

Both the minigame and the loot spew both feel very out of place in Eve.

The Minigame seems a little rigged I swear that I'm destroying more containers now than dropped nothing prior to the change.

The rest of the game I can view zoomed out to the point that with my tactical overview on I can see the entirety of my targeting range, Apart from the loot spew, for that I have to zoom to within 5Km of my ship to even see the Mini Containers, just because they don't show up on the overview, its frankly a pain in the arse.

Mini game is fine.
Loot spew is fine.

However the minigame gets a bit tedious in wh when there's 15-20 cans to hack. Also the impossible games are kinda dumb. Its especially noticeable in wh where all the games are the hardest difficulty and getting 4 or more virus suppressors in a row happen often.
