May be use something like this:
Link1
Link2

  • One string - many variants of localization
  • You can vote for any variant of each localization string
  • Localization administrator can approve string and may change his choice if it need
  • Bonus - support many languages

Вообще не советую играть на русском клиенте!!!
Ставьте английский и наслаждайтесь оригиналом. А то будете качать лазеры для Виндикатора!

Зачем этот позор включается по умолчанию? Кому совсем невмоготу - переключат сами.

PS Hello to laser Vindikator!

раз уж есть такая опция-следует доводить до ума..да и на первых порах и в правильно переведенных (понятных) игроку терминах голова идет кругом,поэтому зачастую требуется основа на русском языке..а потом уже и переходить на английский клиент не очень нужно,сидишь на половинчатом варианте

The issue with Russian client IMO is that the translation is literary. Someone who was in charge of the translation must have been in favor of preserving the "clean" language and this has created a HUGE barrier between Russian people playing on English client versus those playing on Russian client.

This was not such a major issue back when most Russian players played on English client anyway, but within the last couple of years a new generation of players who cannot understand a word of English have come to EVE and it is becoming extremely difficult for Russian players using different clients to coexist within one corporation or even alliance.

Some examples off the top of my head:

  1. Ship types. E.g. battleships are most commonly referred to as "BSH" or "batl" by Russian players and when someone with localized client shows up in fleet saying that there is a "linkor" on the gate, which is also what Google translate would give you, no one can understand what the hell he is talking about.
  2. Skill names. Since most translations sound very different from their English original names its impossible to guide newbies through their training plan without having to switch to Russian client and then back again.

I know that partial translation can be used, but bear in mind, these people are not capable of understanding even a simple paragraph of text in English, so they will never use it.

Ship type is very small numbers owerwise Groups Skill Names or Skill Names.
And Ship type used many times per day in odinary EVE live overwise couple times per week on Group Skill Names or Skill Names.

    Hi,

Thank you for facilitating this, Korvin.

I think there are some good suggestions here and we will take them into consideration for future plans we have in regards to localization. There isn’t much to say that hasn’t been said at this point unfortunately, but stay tuned Big smile

You do not care about the players, and it's not funny.

    Thank you for your answer.

I'm glad you got the message, and I hope you got it right.
Looking forward to see the evolution of a localization process. I hope you would find the way to satisfy all players needs.

DUBLYUR the proper reaction needs some time. The composing of this open letter lasted a week with all the players involved.
The result is all that matters.
