Hello again capsuleers!

CCP t0rfifrans is here with a new Dev Blog, explaining a little more about both EVE Source and EVE True Stories, which are currently in the works!

Also, there's a sneak preview of some of the beautiful new artwork that will be going into EVE: Source, as well as information on CCP's presence at New York Comic Con this year.

Both Torfi Frans Ólafsson, Creative Director for EVE's IP Development Division and B. Börkur Eiríksson, Art Director for EVE's IP Development Division will be heading to New York Comic Con in New York City from October 10-13 to speak more about the ongoing work with these books.

Read all about it!

Just out of curiosity. Will these be sold exclusively by the EVE store?

Or will we be able to get these from other vendors? Such as Dark Horse / Amazon?

As, as of right now, there's no way I can get these in Japan without paying insane fees to send them from Germany > UK > Japan.

The books will be distributed by Dark Horse, so while they will be available on the store, they should be available everywhere you'd expect Dark Horse books to be sold, such as their own website and Amazon.

Oh, come on... what does that have to do with the real game? Question

I mean... you show us a cutaway drawing of an Algos... it looks totally cool... but then we are in a game where the only thing you'll ever experience from within, it's an empty room.

I feel a severe disonance, because that book looks beautiful... promising... it fuels my imagination. But then, it haves nothing to do with EVE Online the game. Not just my personal experience with it, but also what the game really does and accomplishes. I wish with all my heart hat EVE was like that book. Capsules. Cities. Crowds. Compartments. Humans...

But the real game is like this:

Pretty lights - The battle of Asakai

It's not bad, not at all, when such a massive event triggers spontaneously and players get 110% of what they put into he game, but it haves nothing to do with what those books say about EVE.

And i am too burned out to afford loving the artworks in that book and then get back to the real EVE.

Quite a lot! The game is one portal into the Universe. Dust 514 is another. Valkyrie will then be another. The TV series then another.

The book approaches the universe as it strikes us and as we would like to represent it. With the written word and imagery we don't have the same constraints as a game client imposes on us, and thus, we will exercise that freedom as much as we can.

Sorry about ruining your day with pretty pictures! Smile

The panel sounds interesting, any idea if it will be streamed/recorded for those of us not present?

Also, obligatory 'Books for Plex?' question.

Not that I am aware of. There is some streaming and YouTube coverage planned of Comic Con, but I don't know if this event is included.

Not in the immediate future ( days and weeks ), all we can say that there are people working on making it happen. These things take time!

Thats why they did "True Stories is a comic book loosely based upon a story from True Stories from the First Decade"

I prefer EVE Universe – SOURCE anyway Blink

I too exercise that freedom in this very forums, as a preventive measure to not get too bitter too often. P

But then i can't but crave for what it should have been and now won't be. Concerning EVE, learning of Incarna is the second thing I regret more, right after having started playing it almost 5 years ago. Blink

Well you can look at this book as one way as opening the Door, mentally.

Have faith one day the client will be able to deal with all this extra game potential (I do..) even if going into a station for a drink or landing in Caldari Prime to chill has nothing to do with internet spaceships, it beats reaching 4 digits on shipspinning.

While we wait for the so-much-more-needed-actual-space-stuff updates, the TV series and the books will do, greatly :)

Thank you so much for this, from the immersion and roleplaying perspectives *prepares to dodge the potential xenophobia* this is a great step forward.

Cheers!

I too will enjoy reading EVE Source for the sense of immersion in the EVE Universe that EVE Online still fails to provide me.

Your suggestion is noted. Be advised, that the image does not show what occurs within the capsule, which is a very private place, whose fluids probably have ample circulation to account for... soilage.

It doesn't look to be, there are some streams listed on the websites but they seem to start from Friday so nothing from Thursday.

Thanks for the image. Now I'll be reminded everytime I log in that my dude swims in a see of ****.

Also requesting a larger version of that image.

Looks great.

I love this this initiative, making EVE more real for me, and spreading the word.

Will buy/watch/read all of it.

Don't think I'll be making NY Comicon, but it is great news to see this happening.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.
