Hi

I have been playing eve for some time now, and when I first started I wanted to bet isk on real life events, as I thought it would combine my love of sport/betting and throw eve into the mix

Originally this wasn't allowed, as isk couldn't be gambled on real life events etc.

However poker etc did exist I think............

well with all the mention of RMT of late, how do CCP know that the people behind eve bet/eve poker/ somer etc, don't own a unscrupulous website selling isk???? as this would be 99% foolproof.

for example I send 100m to a corp that "claim" to run a website, go to another website, and buy, lets say 5 billion isk.

the corp I sent the money to send me back 5 billion, and ccp are oblivious to this or how I got it, any explanation is met with - I made a winning bet

surely this would be untraceable???

personally I think all isk should be kept ingame, the corp accounts for the above betting sites have no transparency

opinion?

Sting operations would make this difficult, and it only takes one time of it being found out to shut the site down.
They are more likely to give isk out to characters they own on shill accounts, making it look like they are a normal player winning isk, then sell it on a different website, which launders the isk through that random character. Any blame falls back to that character.

That said though, Somer openly commit RMT and CCP support it. Somer pays isk for you to buy GTCs through them, thus trading isk for cash.

Respect. Cool

I came to EVE in 2009 and there were rumors of large alliances and even CCP themselves being involved in RMT.

I have no idea what the real truth is, but I would be TOTALLY surprised if everything was 100% on the level.

Carry on.

NPC corp forum alt may have a point, but its hard to take NPC corp forum alts seriously these days.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

i was tempted to post this as my main, but questions always get asked. and although CCP will obviously know who my main is, and probabally my corp, I always think it raises suspicions.... especially since I do bet a bit on eve.

seriously though its a issue that I feel needs addressing. Whats to stop random corps sending each other loads of money for a few quid that's sent out of game,

at least (if people did) buy isk there would be isk flying about, whereas the corps that offer a gambling "service" have a licence to give isk to anyone they fancy....

with reguards to all isk being kept ingame, yes I know it is technically ingame, but who knows if the 20 billion isk character X has been given, has been in his gambling account.

a few weeks ago, I made a lot of isk on a premier league match - and I was glad for it, but in all honesty how do CCP know that.

It's okay, the OP is my alt. You all know how shy I am about voicing unpopular opinions.

I've been outed. I'm so ashamed :(
