Walking in Wrecks

For Exploration plexes, I suggest instead of the new hacking interface, they replace it with walking in wrecks.

You can walk around in the wreck, just like the captains quarters, except this is how you find the good stuff in the wrecks, and it would provide people incentive to do more of them.

While I would love to see that, what would happen to your ship if someone else came there? Or worse what would happen to you if your ship is destroyed while you are exploring the wreck?

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

You would be at risk? Distress call? Kill yourself? If you are risk averse, maybe EVE is not the game for you.

To the OP, CCP wanted to do this until they shelved the idea.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Risk adverse is not the issue, if you have to leave your ship outside the structure while you "explore" the ruins it would be suicide.

Not really. Maybe you get a proximity alert when someones enters warp to the plex giving you 30seconds to get back to your ship.

Also maybe if you die then your clone gets reset to the last copy losing all skills since then. The last copy could be whenever you last docked or updated your clone if they were going realy hardcore.

Or maybe you aren't 'walking' yourself in the wreck. But using some sort of android. And it opens in a window about the same size as the hacking window. Using somewhat simplified icon graphics.
Because under CCP lore most sub cap ships don't have facilities for a capsuleer to leave their pod while onboard. Not to mention how crippled your ship would suddenly become. But controlling a 'drone' through some tasks would be believable.

Hiring Dust mercs to explore the wreck for you sounds like a better idea.

I think carrying Dust mercs out to the wreak and/or using your salvage drone to enter the wreak would be the way to go.

Also they might be a way to have your ship dock with the wreak, or have an 'anchor' feature that provides some safety.

I see this only after we gain access to our own ships! Perhaps though a remote drone with OR-VR controls????

Like the idea, however if you say had a spare clone or crewman on board or a specialized drone (possible new items) that you control, you can just detach from controlling them immediately and defend your ship if need be. Makes a viable option to you abandoning your ship to explore the wreck.
