I'm currently flying a dominix and doing level 4 missions. I'm starting to get bored of the dominix and wondering what ship I should start training into.

Wow well to suggest something you would have to give an idea as to what you want. You could get into a Megathron if you have decent gunnery skills. What about the Dominix bores you? Is it the idea of drones? Or are you just bored with missions?

I've just been using the dominix for so long I want to try something new. I want to know what are currently the best ships for mission running. Keep in mind that I haven't trained outside of gallente ship skills but I would be willing to. I like having drones but don't want to rely on them.

Same as before, raven, navy raven, navy scorpion. Now you can add typhoon.

Those were never the best options for missions, ok choice sure, easiest to skill into maybe but best never.

The "best ships for mission running"?... Well if you mean by best as in fastest completion times then a Nightmare in Amarr space is nice. A Machariel is also pretty good even after the nerf. Both are very expensive shield tanked ships but the Machariel can be armor tanked.

A CNR is also really good but I'm expecting your shield and missile skills aren't the best. If so this would require a lot of training.

If you just want to try something different go with a Megathron. It should require little training and since it's a gun ship rather than drones it would be a change.

With high skills the Navy Raven is rather nice now. For a Gallente pilot it might not be so easy for skills.

Is your goal better isk/hr, or less boredom from your missions? For Isk per hour the next logical step is to start getting trained into the mac and all that goes with it. If you want those same L4s to be more fun start pressing your limits with down shipping. Some L4s can be run in AFs. Run slowly. Run with a LOT of careful piloting. But a ton of fun.

However, if you're (really) interested in isk/hr then you must know that much better options exist to make money.

Also, if you are looking for things to be more interesting, then shooting red +'s is easy to trump. Go find a PvP style you enjoy and what not.

Was a die hard gallente pilot for years till I finally decided to buy a mach and train autocannons up. With the exception of the thanatos, minmatar based ships are now all I really fly. Autocannons are far more fun than drones or missiles.

The itchy side to that is that you also gotta switch over to shield tank.

Vargur. With the winter expansion, the Vargur is ridiculous. However, actually having to fly a Mach is a bit more fun than sitting in place and blowing things up.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Stay in the Dominix until t2 sentries and drone interfacing 5. Then train it to Gallente BS 5. Then train gunnery skills gradually adding 425 rails on your Domi. When you have tech II large rails and support skills to at least 5 buy a Hyperion.

A Hyperion with t2 rails and t2 sentries outperforms a Dominix if you are not looking to semi-afk but actually fly the darn ship.

Your problem is not the ship but missions, they are boring no matter what ship you are flying.
