I will shortly be training up for my first T3 cruiser.

Initially I want to use if for PvE, against Sansha's. I was looking at either a Loki, Legion or Tengu (No Proteus as I have zero Gallente skills)

I was hoping the community can help with recommendations as to what the best ship to train for is, bearing in mind it's for PvE. The strengths and weaknesses of each, and some recommendations for loadouts, which are inexpensive.

Eventually I'll train for all of them, but which one first?

Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen.

Well for PvE in general the most versatile is the Tengu, due to it having the ability to change the damage type it delivers. Here is a starting ship for sansha, have in mind that the more money you throw on it the better it becomes in missioning.

[Tengu, starter PvE]

Ballistic Control System II

Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron
Shield Boost Amplifier II

10MN Afterburner II

Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile

Medium Hydraulic Bay Thrusters II
Medium Rocket Fuel Cache Partition II
Medium Warhead Rigor Catalyst I

Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Electronics - CPU Efficiency Gate

This one will give you a 366.4/590.3 Sansha tank, 525DPS from T1 missiles @43.7km, a TP and rigor to augment your damage against smaller targets and a very small price tag for the hull type.

Your first upgrades would be a couple of CN BCUs, followed by a pithum C-type medium shield booster, pith C-type resist modules and a good faction/DS AB.

If you intend to fly against Sansha exclusively, a Legion could also be very handy.

Sansha do tracking disruption on guns. So Tengu is the best choice, and you do any of the 4 damage types.

Thats true but dont dicount the Loki because of EMP+resist profile+tracking disrupt not effecting fal off rly.

I love T3's and have flown/fly all of them.

For PvE the Legion and Tengu are beasts. The proteus has a few niches (The Maze) in PvE but the incredibly short range on blasters makes it hard to apply your damage when you get webbed. I never found anything about the Loki that the other T3's couldn't do better, unless of course you want a turret based weapon system that has amazing damage profiles.

For an all around ship for PvE the Tengu is the king, hands down.

For sansha/blood rats I'd go with a Legion.

On another note any ship with skill point loss associated with it and a 500 mil+ hull deserves to have a little bit of pimp thrown on it. A-type medium armor reppers and Pith medium shield boosters are the Legion and Tengu's best friends.

Not today spaghetti.

You haven't shot many Sansha rats since Odyssey came out, have you?

TD now affects falloff just as much as tracking and optimal. The -- umm, good old? -- days of ACs wasting TDing rats are over. Now it's missiles or suffer until you can get some of the elite cruisers/frigates down.

Thanks for the replies.

I was hoping to go for a Legion, as my Laser skills are a lot better than my missiles skills, but it really looks like a Tengu is the best choice, at least until CCP devise some kind of anti-missile e-war.

I posted both a Legion and a Tengu fit down here (still on the first page). If you're looking at exploration, either option could work. I have used them both for Blood Raiders, so minor tracking disruption, but the Legion hasn't made it to Sansha space just yet.

It is a relatively quick train into T2 hams and well worth it. Hams open up a number of good hulls in the class, such as the new super Cerberus.

I admit I've never done sansha space, but I'd opt for the ham-lego. This is purely for my preference for the perma run low SIG speed/active armor tank.

Not to mention the legion is way better looking than the 'gue.

Tengu. It's all the rage amoung the noobs. Personally, I think it's like having a 4 inch peen though. You love it cause it's yours and you use it where ever you can. Do what you can to make it look bigger than it really is. Lie if you have to. There are a whole lot more lot bigger options though.

I hear nerf to T3's are on the way.
