We acknowledge that we rushed this event, and we are certainly learning from it now.

This is the statement that most trouble me.

Why? Why would CCP be so keen to rush through a proposal to push a gambling site further into the architecture of the game universe? Is this type of feature a new direction for the game? Why would a virtual slot-machine need such speedy attention from the development team?

As some previous posters have stated (and I find this, ultimately whether you agree on this issue or not, to be the crux of the argument), given the list of in-game issues that still need to be addressed, and the issues with client stability, why is CCP now given over to investing *any* of its' time implementing 3rd-party gambling support??

EVE is not a gambling platform, the core gameplay is in no way related to lotteries or gambling applications - everything is either earned or taken.

Why has this become such a huge issue in the first place? What the hell is CCP doing?

Why? Because they have a new marketing guy who's completely disconnected from the player base, who's used to being able to push through terrible ideas (former NCsoft staffer here) and thinks an Asian model of game marketing will work in EVE, a game largely dominated by guys in their mid 30's who work in IT. Hes used to working on games where people get excited over purple swords, pets and cosmetic micropayment features I.e. nothing even slightly related to EVE.

Exactly. And then comes the next question : why the marketing guy, who's the least competent when it comes to the game, has been given such a power of decision ? It's not his fault, it's the fault of the guy who, knowing EVE, has decided to hire him. There's the real guilty one, the rotten apple.

More power to the devs, the ones who actually make the game.

The 'meaningless vanity items' are being given to SOMER for the express purpose of selling lottery tickets worth hundreds of billions. For free. Also they're unique and entering the lotteries will be the only way to get them ever.

Now. If CCP spawned unique items for Goonswarm Federation worth hundreds of billions of ISK on the understanding that GSF would be selling those items, and gave the reason as 'GSF exists and is a big alliance'. They would be giving Goonswarm an unfair advantage. Wouldn't they.

Has anyone else figured out how to enter this competition without a somer blink account? It`s like 18hrs to the draw and some people are missing out.

Okay I've done a little searching but couldn't find anything.. I thought I read from the first post when SOMERblink was offering this that they'd have free blinks for people that wanted to put a ticket in without adding money. Did I misread that and I have to deposit money and use their service to get a chance at the new swag? If thats the case I guess I won't be able to get a ticket.
I'm only on this because my main, Tron 3K, is banned till 9/30/2013! Don't give me any likes!

CCP keeps the CSM in the dark about a major EVE decision, shows favouratism to an EVE player group, repeats T20, and all you guys did was forward them a summary of forum complaints?

Do you not see that this entire scandal occurred because CCP decided to ignore you? That CCP only consults you when they feel like it? During the meeting you should have been shouting "STOP LEAVING US IN THE DARK".

Compose an open letter, threaten to resign if CCP continues with the SOMER plan, alert the gaming media that the CSM is resigning because CCP is ignoring you and showing favouratism. Every single one of you is a representative of a large body of EVE players - coordinate and organise a Jita riot.

Do. Something.

But I guess trips to Iceland are more important.

Or not becoming completely defunct by exercising power they don't have.

As much as I dislike the last two community relations incidents, I'd rather save our Million Capsuleer March for stuff that really matters, like Incarna-esque disasters. Protest loses all meaning when your response to every single result you dislike is to grab a sign and stomp around with your angry face on.

We are far from passing the point where reasonable discourse is no longer the best course of action, though I'll admit it is always easier to chickenlittle and 99% around like an impotent rube.

Yeah, or like ToS changes. Or giving a player group trillions of ISK. Oh wait.

If you think these incidents are as bad as Incarna, then you have no sense of proportion.

I literally don't believe that you even believe that. Turn off the forums, come back tomorrow, and see if you still feel the same way. I won't deny that they're bad, but CCP has shown they can do much worse, and they're far from irrevocable as it now stands.

CCP not using the CSM as it was never intended to be used or suggested that it would ever be used is your problem alone.

Please go read up on why the CSM was ever established, and what are its functions and responsibilities to the player-base.

Favoritism in a player driven, competitive sandbox is a huge damage to the game and its development. Something is really wrong when you place Incarnia incident above it. This is the same level. CCP wants to create a sale team out of players. If you or your group get more sales through GTC or the like and you get in game perks from CCP. The new TOS change support this nicely.

Except neither of these issues are closed yet. The ToS issue is under discussion and the end result of the Blink issue could still be that they never use in-game items for promotions again.

You're acting as if the issues are closed when they're still in the process of resolving them. Again, chickenlittling and 99%ing like impotent rubes.

If the CSM goes to the mattresses every time, then CCP will just, rightfully, stop listening to them altogether.

LOL you said meaningless vanity items...

Unique ships are worth billions if not trillions of ISK, enough to start your own empire anyway.

From TOS:

Quote:
You may not abuse, harass or threaten another player or authorized representative of CCP, including customer service personnel and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to: filing support tickets with false information in an attempt to gain from it or have someone else suffer from it; sending excessive e-mails, EVE-mails or support tickets; obstructing CCP Employees from doing their jobs; refusal to follow the instructions of a CCP Employee; or implying favoritism by a CCP Employee.

credit to one of the CSM (you know who you are).

What does that even mean?
