This may be kind of a silly question, but has any attempt been made to get the leaders of the respective alliances to the negotiating table? That is a lot of needless ship deaths, and a long time for a war to last...

It has been tried,

The Blue Ceo of the Time attempted to stab the Red Ceo with a spork while the Red Ceo ran around screaming something about being blue balled by mallers


The only change was Blues are no longer allowed sharp objects and Red got some rash cream.

So many Maulus losses. Dozens. Seriously, I've probably lost fifty Mauluses in RvB.

And yet, at a 10:1 K/D rate, those fifty simple Maulses contributed to the glorious explosion of 500 dirty filthy Reds.

So let's give a hand to the lowly Maulus, the glorious killmail whoring Maulus.

And let's give a hand to RvB, the Forever War, and the directors and FCs who make it all possible.

Small update: we awarded the involved pilots a medal for this (still working on shinies to give to them too):
