The fact that its SOMER is irrelevent, its the point that CCP are writing a blank cheque and giving it to an ingame 3rd party thats the issue. It wouldnt make a difference who they had decided to give those ships to, the whole idea is fundamentally flawed,.

CCP could give SOMER a top of the range Porsche or something. CCP will still get grief, but at least it wont be unbalancing what is supposed to be a sandbox game. A lot of people now will be genuinly concerned about who and which other in-game entities CCP are subsidising that arent known about.

You can rest assured if the goons had been allocated the stuff and somer blink hadn't been there wouldn't be any threads about this at all.

Simple fact is, SommerBlink is making trillions off the players, and CCP just gave them the means to make trillions more and at the same time make money themselves.

I have always hated the PLEX system, which is just CCP sanctioned RMT, and fully supporting SommerBLink in this just reinforces it.

I can't believe you put Somer, a for-profit gambling site making real cash with CCPs intellectual property, in line with people that have actually been improving our game experience for several years. That would have been my question to CCP: Why Somer? Why not the creators of EveMon, of EFT, Eve-Uni, RvB? Because they do this for free?

Somer can sponsor as many events as they like. It's like saying "Hey, Red Bull is a much better organization than UNICEF. They sponsor so many events! Let's give them more money!"

Somer is buying it's visibility. Nobody would know about it without Kil2, ads on the ally tournament, or this disaster right here.

You don't have to buy a GTC, that's just one of the ways to get blink credit. It's either that or sending them isk in game.


Thanks for the clarification. Still means CCP are forcing me to give money to a specific for-profit player group if I want a chance, and that's unacceptable

No, you can rest assured that if CCP had given goons unique items and forced you to pay goons isk, use their sites/services, etc in order to participate, and allowed goons to exclude people at their discretion then there would be even MORE threads about it, and you - yes you - would have an extremely different opinion on it.

You have some incredible problem with goons, to the point where it defeats logical thought and you are defending a creator/overseer of a game essentially 'cheating' for their favoured players, but because some of the people - and I must stress "some"- speaking out against it are are people you are buttsore about you have to react the opposite way, and that appears to be your sole reason for supporting it - because it's something that goons, amongst countless others, disagree with

they can be rewarded with free subscriptions, free/subsidized fanfest trips or in plenty of other ways that don't affect the sandbox and nobody would have a problem with that

Exactly, thats why I take the point that if somer blink wants to give away neat prizes they should be bought or manufactured in game thus maintaining the integrity of the sandbox. It saddens me that the self styled defenders of the sandbox are QQ because they didn't get anything. I point this out and I am accused of hate crimes against the goons. In actuality I have no opinion on the goons either good or bad, they are background noise in new eden, part of the story, that's all.

It saddens me that you do not understand what Socratic irony is, and that you actually think Goonswarm is mad about not getting free stuff.
