In what way has the situation been resolved? CCP completely avoided the two main issues, Somer making an insane profit from this and not everyone being allowed to play Blink.

Not allowed to play SOMER ? Either you did something terribad over there, or is SOMER trying to meet some Affirmative Action criteria ?

I didn't say it applied to me personally. But as an example; Family members playing from a single ip counts as doing something terribad according to Somer.

Yeah, My friends and I all decided to join EvE after a friend told us about it. According to Blink I am an alt. I thought I was a real boy...

Monument shooting or not, CCP giving an in game corp trillions of isk is just complete b.s. It was just as much b.s. when they did it for The Angel Project this summer. Just want to know what it would take to get CCP to slush my fund at this point.

To newer players who might not understand the monument reference I offer this:

http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/25/eve-online-controversy-erupts-in-protests/

I am sure you will find much more background information on 2011's monument shooting, google'ing for keywords like "summer of rage" "jita riots" "microtransactions" "gold ammo" "incarna" "pay to win" "greed is good" etc. in conjunction with "eve".

In 2011 I watched all these events unfold in disgust without doing anything about them and eventually cancelled my accounts.

Much later I realized that all the protesters, posters and people making their voices heard in one way or another (and unsubbing) actually seemed to have accomplished something, namely CCP changing course.

Late thanks from me to all who participated!

Just recently I have come back to the game only to see troublesome things unfold again.

Shooting the monument again is a symbolic gesture, the meaning of which has been established by others over two years ago.

I invite anyone who is unhappy with certain recent CCP decisions to join me.

Maybe the monument can be completely vaporized this time.

Ingame channel: "Rage Mk II" (without quotes)

This is stupid. If you want to have an effect on CCP, "demonstrations" are useless. They've said as much themselves. If you want to make an impact, log off. If the Goons actually care about this (as their thread would suggest), then having an entire alliance logoff for a weekend would be a much better indicator to CCP.

Actually, KuroVolt, you have a point.

I carefully thought about my wording before not wanting it to appear like that.

The post you quoted came together as an answer to several people who have asked me why I am shooting the monument as something I can point them to.

So naturally, it has been written from a personal point of view.

Neither do I mean to be a leading figure in any of this - what is there to lead anyway? - nor do I care to "shine" by doing this.

People who would like to voice a certain opinion through symbolic means can come and shoot the monument, they don't need me or have to interact with me at all. They can shoot it without me even being there, when I need to log off or need to do other things.

I just kicked it off, since nobody seemed to have started it yet this time, although "monument shooting" has been referenced in some others threads on certain topics recently a few times.

Im just saying: if you really want to leave an impression on CCP, find something new to act as a symbol of everyones frustration with this event.

Dont repeat something that happened in the past, it both reduces the uniqueness of the first event and it also wont affect CCPnearly as much as the first time.

Its like hearing a funny joke for the fifth time, its just not as funny as the first time...

I see where you are coming from and had thought about this, too.

I chose the monument, since shooting it has become a part of Eve history and its symbolic value has already been established, so the message would be quite clear without many words.

Only later, after I had started shooting it, I realized, posting about it might increase attendance, but chose not to make it a "personal thing", so did on purpose not state anything like "I (personally) started the crusade. Follow my lead!".

Then I had people question why I shoot the monument and added the post, which made you "accuse" me of going for my five minutes of fame.

In the end, it's not about being funny.

I was very well aware before I started this, that some people might consider the whole thing to be pathetic in many ways, especially should the whole thing not take off. This time I just felt I should do something to voice my concern.

Some people might be aggravated about the recent TOS changes, others about Blinkgate, others about...you name it. Like over two years ago, there are several things, people could be concerned about these days regarding the direction CCP is taking.

We will see how it turns out.

CCP has stated, categorically, that they will not listen to what people say, they will watch what they do. If you keep playing, keep showing up, whether you're protesting or not, they don't care. You're still subbed. They still cash your check or the person's check who bought your PLEX.

They enacted the impersonating rules because they planned on giving those shinies to SOMER, and didn't want anyone to scam people by impersonating SOMER people. Would make CCP look bad. That's my opinion anyway.

And oh yeah... only 2 people shooting the monument that I can see. Not much of a protest yet. Blink

SO how do you know that somer doesnt have to give a certain amount of the ISK to CCP as big sink?
Or that there wasnt a NDAed choice option between them and eveapalous or others?

That's the point, nobody knows anything about the history of Somer, nor the exact details of the agreement between CCP and Somer.

What we DO know however, is that only 1 account per IP address is allowed. This means, if you have flatmates or a partner etc who plays EVE, only one may have a Somer account. More than one account per IP, means a ban from the games.

We also know that no matter what the agreement, this is still a very unfair way of distributing said goods. In effect, the leader of Somer has the final say of who gets the ships, and who does not. Agreements or not, that's a very unfair advantage to give to one person in a finite sandbox. Remember, we STILL have to pay Somer in order to have a chance at winning a ship. No matter how you look at it, that's not fair.

Sort of a dumb thing to protest against, honestly. S'like people getting angry they can't space-can-trap new players in starter systems.

I mean, come on, out of all the creative ways to scam people we're going to grab the torches when someone says it's against the rules to jack over the reputation of a corp/alliance purely out of maliciousness? Can do all sorts of stuff if this is allowed, hell I could claim to be someone else and then start asking for credit card information and then it's suddenly a huge problem instead of a minor altercation.

Not that it matters, CCP doesn't usually bend to the will of a few squeaky wheels. Good luck with your wasted ammo though.

as long as sentient beings exist,

until then, may I too remain

and dispel the miseries of the world."
