Been gone awhile and will be making new alt to relearn game mechanics again.
Im planning on trying out exploration 1st and are wondering which race have the lowest population and if it would make sense to create new character in that space region or if it does not matter now?
Thanks for any suggestions.

The only thing a race provides is

- A few hours of training during the tutorial
- Where you start in New Eden

Neither of which really makes a difference as you can travel anywhere and train any ships.

I think its mostly just there for RP anymore, but who knows if they'll change it if the Empires are declining.

Startinh area and race means nothing. I would try to find a play style you like. And then try to match a race with it. If you want to get into exploration all the explorer frigs are good but in my opinion the caldari one is the better choice with more mids. But for your first few months I would highly recomend picking a race and specializing in it. And also getting your core skills up.

As for as noob friendly races ill rank the nations from easiest to learn ton hardest to train. In my opinion.

1 AMARR. amarr pret ty much focus on lasers and armor tanking with a side of drones. I always found amarr ship fitting more straight forward. Either max dps or max tank. ps dont forget cap skills.

2 Caldari. They use missiles mainly and have a decent hybrid line. They shield tank. Like amarr I find them fairly straight forward. Though they do suffer from some fitting problems and u may need fitting mods early on. They also use some drones later on

3 gallente. Gallente use drones and hybrid weapons and armor tank. But they do have some ships that get good shield tanks. Drones as a main weapon system can be a little overwhelming in the beginning but they are good.

4 minmatar. To me minmatar are the least friendly for a new player. Its not that there ships are hard to fly. Its just the fact that they are very versitile. And could get confusing and intimidating. Minmitar use projectile missiles. Armor or shields and drones. And. So they do have a longet training time to master. But they havr very affective ships.

Also pick a race that pleases you visualy.

My suggestion, train the ships and weaponry in the race that fits your combat play style. Choose the bloodline that fits your personality. If you are a rebellious freedom fighter choose Brutor. If you are a fun and decadent player choose Gallente. If you want to fight your way to the top choose Civire. This way even if you don't RP your character will still "act" like a character in their bloodline. Of course there are always those individuals who don't fall into their stereotype which is fun as well.

As everyone else said: it doesn't matter.

If people say "that and that race is better than that" they mean that race's ships. Or, occasionally, that race's FW army. Don't get confused by that.

But your birth race doesn't limit you in any way, so it really doesn't matter, except for aesthetics and RP.
