SOE cruiser speculation and theory crafting .....

CCP mentioned the SOE ships would have: covert cloak, Amarr armor resist, Gallente Drones. Match that up with the theme of SOE and you get a covert logistics ship. Below is my thought on what it may entail:

Cruiser: SOE Salvation

Low: 5
Mid: 5
High: 5

Turret Hard Points: 4
2 Medium Rigs.

Recon:
• 20% reduced CPU need for Cloaking Devices per level.
• 10% bonus to remote armor repair amount

Amarr:
• 4% armor resists per level.

Gallante:
• 10% damage, hit points, and armor Maintenance transfer amount of drones per level.

Special Ability/Role:
• 100% bonus to Logistic Drone repair amount.
• 1000% bonus to range of remote armor repair and energy transfer systems.

NOTE: Can fit covert ops cloaks and covert cynosural field generators.

Shield: 1050
Armor: 1850
Structure: 1500
Mass: 9,900,00 kg
PG: 1000 pg
CPU: 300 tf
Cargo Capacity: 600
Drone Capacity: 200
Drone Bandwidth: 75
Max Velocity: 220 m/sec
Inertia Mod: 0.6x
Capacitor Recharge: 300 seconds
Capacitor Capacity: 1400 GJ
Radar Strength: points 21
Signature Radius: 70 m
Warp Speed: 3 AU/sec
Target Range: 75000 km
Max Targets: 9
Scan Resolution: 340 mm

My thoughts:
• Half force recon and half logistics.
• SOE theme of humanitarian aid means no Hard Point bonuses.
• Bonus focus on drones and logistics.
• Amarr based hull tech so armor/energy.
• Looked at Rubicon TV episode, picture showed 4 hard points.
• 5,5,5 is in-line with pirate faction slot allotment.

It won't get recon bonus because it is a faction ship... if it was a T2 yes but its classified as a pirate ship instead.

This certainly sounds as an interesting concept that you have here. Getting bonuses from 3 skills however... and a t2 pirate ship... you know where i'm going - people will start screaming with all sorts of "reasonable arguments". It's just.. weird.

Ok, first - does the inclusion of a t2 skill mean you'll need t2 materials to build this ship? How will this influence its price?

Second, the covops cloak means that CCP are likely going on the same path for those ships as with the Moracha and Chremoas... but i still haven't saw an info screen for those - what are their prerequisites? Do they require the reckon skill to operate? Pirate ships are generally really easy to access.. they are just expensive as hell compared to the regular t1s.

Outside of this, i's scrap the repair and transfer range - you can't get that and a covops cloak - too damn strong, considering you can just drop 5 bonused medium repair drones and cloak. Adding a bit of burst repair from 60k away then cloaking again is way too much (especially on a hull with tank bonuses).

I speculate they will get a gallente drone bonus. A amarr resist bonus and a role bonus for exploration. They will be inline with a pirate ship. I hope they don't start making readily availibke t2 faction ships.

I was thinking it would be required recon (cruiser) and covert ops (frigate) due to the skill req's to use the module.

The HP, base-resists, etc are all faction-T1 based. The skill and associated bonus is the plus. That assumes they can use covert cloaks like the CCP Twitch episode mentions.

EDIT: I suppose they could make the CPU for the cloak the 'bonus' stat ... But I can still dream! Lol

My guess is the special ability bonus will be the probing / scanning etc bonus. We will get one from Amarr and one from Gallente. The Gallente bonus will be drone damage / hitpoints while the Amarr skill could do something with the turrets, possibly laser damage, but more likely the armor bonus. I believe they stated it will have armor resist bonus. These are going to be capable combat ships more focused on pve that can move around easily with the covert ops cloak. Interesting design choices.

here is what I came up with in another thread.
Omnathious Deninard wrote:
By extrapolating we can get a very basic idea about what kind of stats these ships will get.
We know that pirate ships get 15 slots, and drone ships always get -1.
We also know that pirate ships get about 150% the raw HP as there T1 counterpart.
As a armor based drone ship it would be best to assume the arbitrator as the T1 counterpart.
We know the bonuses are 4% to armor resistances per level of Amarr Cruiser and 10% drone damage and HP from Gallente Cruiser.
So other than power Grid and CPU we can get a basic idea.

SOE Cruiser

• Role Bonus:+10 to virus strength, 37.5% to scan probe strength 100% reduction of the CPU needs of Covert Ops Cloaking Device(total crap shoot on these)
Edit: Wow can believe I forgot about the hacking strength bonus!

• Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus:
+4% Armor Resistances per Level

• Gallente Cruiser Skill Bonus:
+10% Drone Damage and HP per Level

• Slot layout: High 4, Med 4, Low 6 (or) High 4, Med 5, Low 5 / 2 turret and 2 launcher hardpoints
• Fittings: 600MW, 350CPU
• Defense (shields / armor / hull) :1650/2250/2400
• Shield resists: 0EM/50EX/40KIN/20THE
• Armor resists: 50EM/20EX/25KIN/35THE
• Capacitor (amount / recharge rate / cap/s) : (Never been good at this one)
• Mobility (max velocity / agility / mass / align time):(or this one)
• Drones (bandwidth / bay): 125Mbps/400
• Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 50km/260mm/7
• Sensor strength: 17(?)
• Signature radius: 125m(?)

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

That's one beefy cruiser! That bonus set up could work too. I was thinking of giving it less than pirate faction total HP. Pirate faction slot lay-out. Ie Cynabal and Gilla have 15 slot lay-outs.

I once saw a pirate frigate for Angels that had the need for covert ops skill. That was the one I used as the premise for using recon (cruiser) and covert ops (frigate). The basic stats for the frigate are:

Chremoas
Ability: 200% bonus to small projectile Turret Damage. +10 Virus Str to relic and data analyzers. -100% targeting delay after decloaking.
Minmatar: 10% small Proj Turret Optimal range and falloff per level.
Gallente: 15% bonus to small proj. turret trackign speed per level.

Covert Ops Skill bonus: 20% reduced cpu need for cloaking devices per level.10% increase to scan strength of probes per level.
NOTE: can fit covert ops cloaks and covert cynosural field generators. Cloak activation delay reduced to 5 secones.

Fit: 3/5/3 w/ 2rigs. 2 turret HP's.

I mention this because CCP has a track-record for making pirate faction ships with T2 skill needs. The HP, etc is more pirate faction. With all the buffs in the pipe-line, why make a ship that uses old-school thinking. Why not develop one that will not need buffing later? SOOOO, I used recon skill as part of the skill set. It's more like T1.5 faction.

Targeting (max targeting range / Scan Resolution / Max Locked targets): 125km / 430 / 8
Sensor strength: 28 Ladar
Signature radius: 90
Cargo capacity: 320

The T2 was a special thing for this years AT prize and is not the norm. Even on the twitch stream they said it will be the only T1 ship ever that will use a covert ops cloaking device.
Drone based ships always get -1 slot and I am expecting the gila to lose a slot when the pirate pass comes through.
The HP is inline with pirate ships being about 1.5 times there T1 counterpart.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

I wonder what category theses ships will be placed under, navy faction or pirate? nether of which seem to fit in my opinion.
So it could be entirely possible they will be placed in the normal pool as was ORE ships, thus having the same opportunity to have T2 design aspects and not the limited, but enhanced aspects of pirate / faction designs.

What do you mean category?
In the market, they are simply listed as "faction"

Navy vs Pirate is basically a meaningless distinction.
The better distinction is if you need to leave high sec to produce these

Of course, for FW navy ships, you need to go into low sec anyway... so its basically just a power level thing...

Sorry I did mean Navy & Pirate, Its just SOE seems to fit neither.

And for category I mean ship class; as in browsing though the market to Frigates and under Standard Frigates or ORE Venture is listed there, instead of under faction.

Further up in the thread people were talking about the possible skill requirements (like cov-ops) along with the standard cross starship command skills, with others arguing that T2 pirate ships seem a bit far-fetched. I'm just saying that it probaly wont be under the 'pirate' tag and be more like the ORE ships in the market.
