How are we supposed to send the console readout for the "hang" when it exceeds the max character limit of both the forum and the email when you try to send it to the devs?

Here's a little snippet so you can see what I'm trying to send:

Command: EVE Online
Path: /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider
Version: EVE Online: Inferno (1.0)

Duration: 1.67s
Steps: 17 (100ms sampling interval)

Hardware model: MacPro3,1

Similar issue as others have had. I can be out in space for 30 minutes before the UI freezes up, or I can be in station for 30 seconds and I'll get a freeze after log-in. There seems to be no consistent trigger; it's not a memory issue either on the Mac. The only way to get out is via force quit even though I hear the game continuing in the background.

Confirming I am getting multiple freeze ups today. Docking and undocking seem to be the main triggers. OS X 10.8.4

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 8 MB
Memory: 4 GB

Update: Actually I can not even dock or undock without completely freezing up and requiring a force quit of the application. This was not happening earlier today before the downtime. I have cleared the client data cache, and tried docking and redocking with various ships. Every dock crashes immediately before the transition between space and station [your docking request has been accepted message appears], and every undock crashes on immediately before the transition as well [undocking confirmed text appears].

Update #2: Full system restart seems to have resolved the issue for now.

This seems not only to be a mac client problem. I had exactly the same behaviour after today's patch on Windows.
I also cleared the cache, used the repairtool on different clients with different accounts and tried undocking/docking with different ships.
Also a systemreboot fixed the issue for now.

Anyone have a freeze on the Mac since the Sept 18th patch?

Never-mind, I just had one. I got it the same way I normally do: Triple boxing a mining op while web browsing.

More than I've had in the past 2 months.

I have spent the last 30 goddamn minutes trying to send a single corp mail. After a random period of 2-4 minutes eve freezes up as I'm trying to send it.

I'm dualboxing atm and it freezes up just the account I'm trying to send the corpmail on.

From what I've experienced for a few months/years, it's triggered by spikes of disk writing / network bandwidth usage (for example, starting a song on spotify pretty much freezes the UI every time -_-)

Well, adding my own case in this long list... I see there's no real solution here except running eve in a virtual windows :/ I play on a MacBook Air and the game is fluid and nice... until it crashes, randomly anytime in any game session, multiple clients or not. Next time I'll try to fetch a sensible system.log extract.

To any dev reading this (if you haven't given up yet), I wonder if it's of any use posting in this thread since the last dev post here was made

I'm getting the same issues on my 2009 MBP.

Tried a full reboot, changing the graphics card to the 9400m, a reapir on the client and a complete reinstall of the client. I even tried it on WiFi (I usually play on a cable) and a different network and got the same lock ups as before. in my case it seems to give up half way through loading the change in environment so I get the background, all of my windows and capacitor but no modules or ship and no control. Force quit and reload and it sticks on the loading character bar until I force quit again. Repeat up to 4 times and it'll eventually let me in. Its pretty irritating especially when you lose a ship and pod because of it.

Sorry to say it but that says it all. Cider is nothing more but a quick bandaid.

CCP won't ever fix this as they only worry about a quick bandaid fix for OS X. If they actually built a native client with the tools arleady provided with OS X, they'd have a game changer. But that won't happen; they don't wanna spend the resources for a lower populace when the majority of their subscribers are on Windows.

I usually get the freeze ups when changing my desktops as I like to run 1 client per desktop (I run 4 simultaneouly). Console seems to indicate it doesn't like me doing that so it locks up. But again, cider is garbage and also plays a role in this.

I'm pretty sure support is more than likely dropped but they are just trying to ease the pain by saying they are going to have someone look into it. I don't wanna hear a GM/dev come in and say CCP hasn't dropped support like the other thread. If it's not true, show me a recent post within the last few days from someone that works there, then look for the one before that. (I've looked and I can say, it's months inbetween..just stating the obvious.)

One thing i realise about the freezing and hanging is when you constantly switch application or client with the ⌘ + Tab. Eventually it was a perfect workaround to my freezing by switching application with the Dock.

My hardware is a Macbook Pro 2010 with 8GB and a Mac Pro with 12GB and both have same freezing issues when i do application switching mentioned above. After using a slower method of application switching through Dock, I can be in EvE for the whole day without any freezing or crash.

If any of you have multi client or required to switch app in the midst, try switching with dock instead of shortcut keys.

Maybe that's why I freeze so infrequently. I always use the dock.

But, it can still freeze. I get maybe one or two freezes a week, although Ive sometimes had 2 in an hour.

Still freezing up. I am currently docked up a lot of the time and the EVE window is in the background. Often when I come back to it it is frozen. But not always. Sometimes it still freezes when I am in the window and playing.

Any torrent activity freezes up EVE almost instantly, so I no longer have a torrent client running while playing EVE.

This has been the case for probably over a year or more.

Can a professional debugger not debug this already?

Someone who gets alot of freezes should test the sisi client and report the results in one of the threads in Features and Ideas. Those threads seem to be getting actual attention from the Devs.

For what it is worth I am posting my EVE Mac client issues.

I will log issues with some form of CCP feedback when I find the correct place to log this stuff.

I have OS X IMAC. 3.4GHz Intel Core I7 with 8GB 1600 Mhz DDR3.
I installed EVE on Mac recently and from day one was having client freezing issues mostly when I run two clients in Window Mode.
As I have a few accounts I have not noticed EVE freezing when in full screen mode running one account.

I have found that one client freezes just before docking a ship. Several times I find my ship about to dock and the whole screen is frozen. After having to FORCE quit EVE I find I am in station but not always.

Sometimes one client freezes along with Teamspeak freezing and I cannot hear what is being said on Comms so I have to quit Teamspeak and FORCE quit EVE. However I even tried not using Teamspeak to see if that was the problem but I feel that EVE is causing Teamspeak to freeze rather than Teamspeak itself.

Still EVE would freeze without Teamspeak running

I would like to get to the bottom of the problem.

I hope some DEV or someone here can help.

If I find the cause of the issue I will let you know.

I've got an outstanding support ticket open and what they suggest is running the client in lowered resolutions, turn all sound including eve voice off, run a single client only.

Even doing this it still locks up.

But then 'support' states, dont run torrents despite clearly seeing the mac system report where it clearly shows no such application installed.

Seems like support is running from off shored support desks. If it seems to tricky to fix, blame the customer.

Hell, lower the eve experience, yeah, lower the subscription fee then or stop advertising the features that Eve has that cannot be run on a mac.

Out of interest, how many subscriptions does CCP get from Mac customers? Just like to know how much revenue they are thinking of losing.

Rant over ! :D
