how to prevent fog fps drop First post

The gas cloud tank the FPS of every person I've talked to. Just spin your camera around to avoid them being shown. Twitch streamer and EVE NT tournament broadcaster.

Like I said, its been that way and happens to every person I talk to. It is uncommon enough that you don't see people up in arms about it. Twitch streamer and EVE NT tournament broadcaster.

Maybe you just run them more than I have. /shrug You can try playing with graphics settings. There is no way to eliminate the performance hit, at least from my experience. Sorry. Eggs Ackley Likes received: 106	#9 - 2013-09-27 22:50:03 UTC 1 I have the same card with 2gb and no issues at all. 8gb system memory. But EVE is mosty GPU. Make sure your drivers are current and cut out any running processes you might have going is all I can suggest.

Apart from performance issues I run into the problem of not being able to read white text on a white background. You know, when you have locked someone. Or get a damage notification. Not very user-friendly.

I agree with that, on-screen text should be shadowed to help white text stand out on bright pieces of space or have an outlining background, because contrary to solar system suns, turning the cam doesn't help as they often take a large part of the scenery.

turn off HDR, the tool tip you get when mousing over the setting specifically states that it puts a lot of load on your GPU in order to to make lighting interact with fog,smoke, and reflections in a more realistic way. on top of this it even goes as far as to way that its not recommended for anything other then "top of the line cards", nvidia cards that are labeled as X60 such as 460,560,660 are all considered middle of the line cards, while they are great at getting playable fps in most modern games they generally lack the memory bandwidth to maintain good fps at max settings on a demanding game.

i previously was running a 460 with most settings maxed at 60 fps and i think all i had turned down was HDR and AA so a 660 should be fine if you just realize that your memory bandwidth is holding you back and you may have to occasionally turn down a memory intensive graphics option
