In one of the many threads on the whole Somerblink and special ships thing that has been created in the recent CFC spurge often forum poster Lucas Kell of SMA and CFC Member has openly accused CCP of endorsing RMT by having a partnership with Somerblink.

CCP Navigator stated the following in this thread

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=281298&find=unread

"Q3, How do we know we can trust Fansites and third parties to operate fairly and independently?

A3, We have worked with a lot of third party sites in the past such as EVE Radio, BIG Lottery and SOMER Blink. These entities (and others of course) have demonstrated a solid history of trust and reliability. As a result, we can verify that they have been straight and true in their dealings and this should be encouraged."

Lucas Kell has then stated this here

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=281233&p=11

"Secondly SOMER is a laundering service for RMT. They run shill accounts which "win" then pass the isk to other players for real cash. Since the shill account is made to be totally separate, SOMER doesn't have to worry about them getting banned."

Of course he has posted no evidence but when has that stopped Eve players before Blink

So if CCP Navigator has already verified that Somerblink is trustworthy that must either they are aware of Somerblink RMT'ing and have no issues with it thus endorsing it, or Lucas Kell is making completely unproven and unfounded accusations which in turn is casting both CCP and Somerblink in a very bad light.

Actually, you are the one making that connection, not "goons".

PS SMA aren't even goons, but don't let little things like "facts" hold you back from grrgooning.

Dear CCP navigator, when are you going to officially state, on behalf of CCP, that I am a trusted character and that all of my interactions and history are completely legitimate, even ones that took place completely outside of the game environment - via third party websites, vent/ts, etc?

It would be very very beneficial to my in game activities to have a CCP stamp of approval.

You have done this for SOMER, so are you going to do it for me too?

I declare that I have pink hair, the government controls us with radio frequencies, and mittani is actually an 80 year old Italian Mafia widow honing her mob leadership skills in EVE by using her nerd grandson as the face of CFC.

Doesn't mean any of it is true.

I dont see where that player states anywhere that CCP endorses RMT. Or anything that looks like the "declaration" that you mention. After all, you said they openly accused CCP of endorsing RMT. Please provide quotes of those open accusations.

Or Is this what they call slander? Or was it libel?

EDIT: and btw i think CCP Navigator made it clear in his posts, that they did no check somer service, and dont plan to do so. They trust them solely on the basis of "3 years of provided service", but not checks were performed.

It's called a Straw Man argument...

Person 1 has position X.
Person 2 disregards certain key points of X and instead presents the superficially similar position Y. The position Y is a distorted version of X and can be set up in several ways, including:
Presenting a misrepresentation of the opponent's position.
Quoting an opponent's words out of context—i.e., choosing quotations that misrepresent the opponent's actual intentions (see fallacy of quoting out of context).
Presenting someone who defends a position poorly as the defender, then refuting that person's arguments—thus giving the appearance that every upholder of that position (and thus the position itself) has been defeated.
Inventing a fictitious persona with actions or beliefs which are then criticized, implying that the person represents a group of whom the speaker is critical.
Oversimplifying an opponent's argument, then attacking this oversimplified version.
Person 2 attacks position Y, concluding that X is false/incorrect/flawed.

Because goons/CFC have never been brought into a bad light with RMT claims from random players without proof on say a daily base .. Roll

Let's first clear this up: I speak for me, not my corp, alliance or coalition.

Now let's just quote me a couple of times for clarity:
Lucas Kell wrote:
I'm not claiming they are endorsing RMT. I'm claiming they have no was to disprove somer is RMTing, and so dumping unique ships on them and endorsing their service is a bad idea.

A lot of players will see this as meaning somer is officially a CCP supported thing, thus free from the possibility of scamming and RMT, but that's simply not the case. CCP have no way to prove it and should just stay out of ALL player run businesses.

IMHO, CCP should have done their own lottery for these, where they can be sure it's secured and they know for certain they are not helping up the credibility of an RMT empire.

Lucas Kell wrote:
Again, I'm not saying they are knowingly endorsing RMT, that's you putting words in my mouth. I'm saying they are endorsing a group with no way of knowing if they RMT, which is just as bad.
So feel free to talk as much nonsense as you like. I'm entitled to my opinion as is everyone else.

Topic needs to be renamed to "Lucas Kell called CCP dumb and stupid for doing dumb and stupid thing!"

We should definitely punish him for voicing his opinion.

Somer Blink is directly selling Blink Credit (easily converted to ISK) for real-life money through their GTC affiliate links.

How this could ever get green-lighted by GMs is a mystery to me but I guess there's no point crying over it. I've bought a few billion this way.

(Edit: Shortly after Incarna I sat down and thought hard what CCP would have to do for me to permanently quit EVE. My conclusion was that I am way too addicted to quit over anything CCP might conceivably **** up in the foreseeable future - sanctioned RMT, pervasive botting, dev favoritism, increasing carebeariziation, ... are all things that I would like to quit EVE over but that realistically won't help me overcome my addiction. Ever since this realization I have been happily living in the land of "don't give a ****". I suggest other people do the same - EVE drama is a lot more fun if you aren't emotionally invested.)

So close! If you had somehow managed to work in some anti-WiS and anti-AFK cloaking elements to your anti-goons and anti-CCP rant, we could have declared the forums complete and shut the whole thing down.
