The noobship challenge

Premise: my account has been hacked and I now have 0 assets in game.

The challenge: WITHOUT begging for money, I am to use every other legal ingame method to attain as much money as I can using nothing but my ibis, civilian railgun and 1 tritanium.

The timeframe: 1 standard week worth of play time, this means 7 playtime days. Round figure of 14 hours.

The reward: The tangible reward is learning new and more efficient ways to play the game as both self-education and also ways to teach new players who start in basicly the same position.

The intangible reward is determining the feasibility of very low level gameplay from the perspective of a high-SP character using ONLY the tools available to him at the time of starting the challenge.

Day 1 results thus far:

Income generation basicly relies on theft of yellow wrecks in belts. Combat with even frigate NPCs nearly impossible due to pitiful dps/tank. Getting the feeling that theft will become a staple of income generation for myself.

To be continued...

I suggest tutorial missions until you can get yourself a scanning setup and some salvagers, then go ninja salvaging or exploring.

Best of luck to you!

I think i will try out ninja-looting and yes salvaging. Currently made about 60k isk and have 2x meta-3 railguns. 1 hour of playtime consumed thus far

Scam dude.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

UPDATE:

In the past 2 days I have gotten a friend to join the challenge with me. To make a living he moved to nullsec with his ibis and has since made enough money to fly a malediction and has a couple of PVP kills to boot.

I stayed in high/lowsec and ran exploration sites, got some really nice loot and raided a wormhole. So far I've made almost 600 million ISK in assets.

It's really interesting to try this, forcing myself to pursue alternative methods of money making over L4's and FW button orbiting like I used to.

Definitely will keep this thread updated as time passes.

Hunt down the "friend" ship. Ask politely for a starting fund. So much easier and much more profitable.

How is what you are doing any different to what every new player does when they first start?

I am guessing that the "Hacked" thing is just a premise for your challenge, but if it's not, "hacking" is against the EULA and if you file a support ticket, CCP will usually look into it and get you your **** back.

Good idea and initiative, but not very realistic : Every new players will follow most of the tutorials and so will start in a much better position than you.
I suggest that you restart your experience in the same normal conditions than most new players.
I'd be really interested by the results.

You should record your adventures, a lot more interesting and entertaining to see how people accomplish these feats.

Because he has a large number of SP behind him already. So the new player has basically no skills, no DPS, no Tech 2 fitting capability.
Where as all he is limited by is isk, so as his isk grows he can immediately jump to a better ship in order to accelerate his isk making.

Oh.

So he is documenting the process that all new players have to go through, but without the drawbacks new players have. Such as ship restrictions due to skills and knowledge about game mechanics.

Would it be ok with you if I enjoyed it whilst not shutting up?

I would rather question how it was possible he got "hacked" in the first place ...

Buy Solstice Project for PLEX4GOOD ! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=301266 (this alt-character will get deleted once the sale is done, on 6th of december)

He didn't.

He is pretending, so he can write about the new player experience without the difficulties of being a new player.

He's also using his existing knowledge to show how many, potential money, areas of the game are open to a newbie with just a basic Ibis. He's also stated that he will only use the Ibis, with its civilian modules.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Now you can buy a T2 fit Ishtar and blitz/cherry-pick level 3s and generate ~50M isk/hr in assets (i.e. LP.) =)
