I'm surpirsed no one is talking about this, but to me this seems like one of the biggest changes they can do...

So what does this mean actually? That small groups can wreck havock on the large alliances now?

Does this mean less blob tactics or that smaller fleets can hurt moon or sov?

It's a pretty big claim. Great idea, but we'll see how it actually pans out. Nothing of detail released so far is earth-shattering.

Perhaps they're just talking about it in the official thread, since every other thread gets locked?

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I don't think anyone is against more small scale conflict drivers, maybe some hisec weiners with the poco thing.

Who cares about their 237th attempt at making blobs/capitals less of an iWin button when this is also on the feature page!,

They said POS changes in Odyssey too...

What's on that board, and what will end up being delivered, are different things entirely.

It's also quite possible that, by this, they mean the "siphon moon goo" thingy. Which, unless they make that deployable module immune to pos guns, won't be all that useful anyway.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Judging by the number of AFK-cloak whine threads, I thought they already could.

I feel like at least half of Rubicon features were made up shortly before the presentation so probably even CCP don't know all details yet.

Not that I'm against this, but doesn't it already exists? Bombers epitomize hit-and-run tactics, as well as high alpha ships. Ambushes are very common in the form of gate camps, and cloaked ships are absolutely deadly.

What you didn't want to fall for upgraded bombers and gate camping?

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

But what do those tactics actually do?

People don't have to engage you. It's not like you're going to impact on them.

That's what something like the siphon is for. Strip a pos's guns, plonk down the siphon, and steal goo.

Then they have to engage, or lose isk.

Result: You now have to log in on an alt parked in each pos every couple of hours to check for siphons. Entertaining gameplay for the defender.

What does it look like for the attacker? Log in a blockade runner. Drop siphon. Safe up and log off. Check every two hours and empty into cargo. Make a drop off run when full.

How much could you possibly hope to steal in a two hour session? Solo not much, the opportunity may be there if you hit multiple locations with a coordinated blops gang. But given effort of multiple people and the high value stuff you are putting at risk, will you be able to steal enough to make it worth it? Logoffski covert cyno alt in camped system, another cyno alt for the trip out, blops and blockade runner would be the needed setup. And systems within single jump range are more likely to be patrolled.

What you're more likely to do, is run something like this when you start looking for people to covert drop on. Place siphons go about your business for a couple hours, then pick them up on the way out if you didn't die. That sounds a little more entertaining. Or drop a bunch of these as bait, when you want to actually fight the blob that comes to remove them.

Yeah, my big concern for the siphon is that it just becomes more sov structure spam ping pong. Better if you have to defang the pos, sending an alert, and force a fight...or...

I honestly don't think it's going to be a big deal, but I like the sentiment, and hopefully it pans out to better efforts.
