Wow this looks to be the most boring, featureless "expansion" yet.

And expansion is the wrong word, its a patch which tweaks existing stuff and adds a very small amount of specific changes. I don;t care wether its free its still not an expansion.

It means something pretty specific: the great, great majority of things to do in this game are done in spaceships, and all of the things that aren't directly descend from and are concerned with spaceships.

Take the spaceships out, and what do you still have?

Irrelevant as always. Ask my why I have bad feelings about todays showing and the "vision". Not even a word about POSes.

Not yet.

But I am in the mood for speculation tonight.

I would speculate that they will introduce player owned Customs Offices in Hi-sec, and lower the tax rate. This will give us the ability to make a lot of planetary materials more cheaply than before.

And what are Planetary Materials used for? Building POS and POS modules.

So I would guess they will be introducing a load of these, and that the increased production of PI materials will be offset by increased demand for them produced by building these new modules.

This would all fit with CCP Seagull's presentation last year too. Maybe we will even be able to build a Stargate from the huge pile of PI materials... Big smile

I don't see POCO's working in HS to be honest. All the big null alliances will swoop through HS and take ownership and push up export taxes to further control the markets.

That's kind of besides the point. It doesn't mean anything within the context of the argument, or indeed the context of most arguments. What does the fact that it's mostly a spaceship game have to do with the lack of new content in our expansions? People say it a lot when talking about WiS content as well, what does it have to do with that? Nothing.

Stating that Eve is what it is, is no reason for it not to change. And it doesn't have anything to do with a lack of content. It's just, as I said, a 'useless irrelevant buzz word catch phrases that doesn't really mean anything(in the context of the arguement).'

Sorry Mal, I have to respectfully disagree with you as well.

If you took the spaceships out of EVE and replaced them with say combat armor, you'd still have EVE.

It's a framework, a world, and environment for interacting in all manner of different ways... and many of those ways are/would be completely unaffected by whether a spaceship or an Avatar is your primary vehicle for navigating through that environment.

Such an expansion will cost them time away from guarding null assets, they would soon find them selves in a bad situation.

You mean like the way goons loose all their Sov every year when they run Burn Jita or Hulkageddon....
Oh wait, they don't.

Quite a bit of difference between static assets all over high sec, and concentrating effort into localized pockets of activity.

Hulkageddon is limited to areas where there are lots of miners. Can't say I have ever seen concentrated efforts in more remote areas of high sec.

Burn Jita is very localized, don't think I need to discuss the obviousness of that.

Ice interdictions have also been very localized.

Fly around sometime, every planet in high sec, except those few systems like Jita and Ammar, has a Concord poco. In order for the null alliance to set up this vast tax empire, they are going to have to destroy all of those, rebuild them, deploy them and then defend them. And that assumes that all the null allainces agree with one another to set up, maintain and coopoerate in their new tax cartel.

Not going to happen.

Now will some alliances, most likely goons, want to shoot player owned pocos for LOLs? Sure they will. That is hardly the same thing as maintaining a tax empire.

It'll be a good experiment in the creation of monopoly over a vast distributed resources base. We'll see who wins, economics or the narrative of the ease of monopoly in anarchy.

Maybe so, but without spaceships and sci-fi, I would not play. At. All.

You're free to stop playing for "lack of content" any time you wish.

Edit: And that's not making a point of the fact that you are claiming this expansion to be 'featureless' based entirely on player speculation.

Malcanis, there's no need to be condescending. I don't see the "obvious implications" because I have a life outside this game. You being a CSM have a vested interest in knowing what's going on. Being elected, you also have a responsibility to be our representative between CCP and the gaming masses.

But you don't have to be a douchecanoe.

of course I don't. It's an extra service I render for free, out of the goodness of my heart

I hope we get actual features...like a proper expansion....most MMOs would classify these as patches. (Granted, our expansions are free)
Please CCP...theres so much you can be doing!

They're not an either/or.

Sorry you find the balance changes "boring". Those of us who have years ago passed our boredom threshold waiting for glaring ship imbalances to be corrected are happy as hell to see them corrected and the number of genuinely viable ships available to fly massively increased. We find the prospect of hugely increased diversity, with new fleet doctrines and new gang tactics and new solo opportunities pretty god damb exciting.

EVE is a spaceships game: if the spaceships don't work, nothing else works.

It's just that people are spoiled to death, look at all the folks screaming "that isn't an expansion". You can't even give people FREE stuff (like EVE expansions) without them complaining and asking for more lol.
