Why not organise a big and interesting lore event which introduces a few NEW unique ships into the game?

Ah right... effort.

"well they might rip us off but y'know.. if that does happen.. lesson learned LOL"

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that if you ever give me the opportunity to raffle off a gold magnate or a guardian vexor.. I'll just keep it.

Incredible.

Basically the three groups that will benefit the most from this arrangement are Somer, who will rake in more piles of ISK from people playing his lotteries to rack up tickets for the Blast, along with kickbacks from Markee Dragon from the GTC sales to people topping up their Blink credits and obviously CCP and Markee Dragon.

I guess you can count the people who will have a Guardian Vexor or Gold Magnate gathering dust in a hangar as well.

The original plan was for the CCP donated prizes to be a Bonk, and to roll the Bonk earnings straight back into the Eve Vegas sponsorship (detailed here: https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/eve-vegas-2013-1/ )

But we wanted to give folks a chance at these hulls that didn't want to spend any ISK on our site too, so we moved the tickets to "any play" and are rolling any residual profit from this event back to the Vegas event sponsorship.

Speaking of - make sure you seek me out while you're there if you get some free time. I'll be handing out said prizes all weekend :)

Somer Blink is a scam. Its a scam not because there is proof of a scam. Its a scam because you can't prove its not. In the same way every single online poker site is a scam. It can be scammed, you can't prove its not being scammed, so it is a scam.

Crazy that CCP would affiliate themselves with an in-game player corp like this. But I was surprised they did so with The Angel Project as well. CCP could have done any number of things to hold an event like this, but instead chose to enrich one player corp over the rest of New Eden. Like a lot of people, I'd like to know what I need to do to have CCP shower the love on Bad Touches. We're a small dynamic corp, with awesome growth potential and could really use a few trillion isk to make our dreams of making all of hisec code-compliant. CCP, help a brother out why don't you?

So, so stupid. I don't want the devs 1) compelling me to participate in some corp's lottery system to 2) have a chance at a ship that shouldn't even be being released. Two instances of being ******** does not make something non-********.

Stop it, CCP. Just stop it.

Whoever makes these decisions has obviously never played this game before. Unique ships should remain unique.

In the case of the Gold Magnate there are no more left in game, so what exactly is the value of a non-existent ship?Blink

I am disappointed in you Ranger 1. For someone whom loves EVE as much as you do I figured you would be displeased at this in particular.

The Gold Magnate is one of the best stories in EVE, that there once was a gold ship so valuable that they only made one just for it to be destroyed in a regular gate camp. It is something to want but never again own or grace our space again and one of the best pieces of EVE history, one that captivated me more then any other "special ship". Now it is being trounced out for a simple lottery...

The Gold Magnate had its time in the sun, if there was but 1 ship for CCP to let it be it is this one. Let the story of the Gold Magnate remain a great EVE legend forever, not with an *Also release in random lottery.

I'd just like to point out to CCP now I've always been willing to enrich the game and if they want me to hand them out instead I'm good with that

Reintroducing old, rare ships is a bad idea.

Officially endorsing a player organization in this manner and performing the reintroduction through them is a TERRIBLE idea.

Please don't do this.

I've nothing to add, other than my support for the community's displeasure with CCP over this.
The fact is somer is being given these out for free is disturbing. Why them, even when you admit you won't have control over who they give them out to?

You do realize that GV was issued as part of a "tournament?" Know your history first.

Also, CCP Dev said Ishukone Scorpion Watch will not be issued as part of other events during the charity event.

Perhaps I am not remembering correctly, but I don't think they were rewards in the Alliance Tournament (and promoted as only being issued as a prize for that tournament).

I have it in my head that the "tournament" in question was more of a competition... hauling O2 or some such commodity.... and that several 5 run BPC's were the prize.

If I'm remembering correctly that's a whole different kettle of fish than an unique, limited run alliance tournament prize ship.

Part of what makes eve great is the feeling of permanence that it has. If you lose a hull, it's gone forever. That applies to legacy items too. Being what being are makes them part of how eve came to be what it is today. Please don't change that. We've spent years building/living/writing our games narrative, so please don't belittle part of that by ret-conning more gold magnates into existence.

That's applies to the guardian vexors as well. That situation has the added impact of people still owning some of them. Let them continue to have their trophy they worked to get. Through is or effort, they earned them. Adding more will only diminish their accomplishments.

As for some blink; I feel it is inappropriate to use a third party as part of your distribution strategy for any new thing. It has the risk of showing favoritism and could very well leave a horribly bad taste in peoples mouths that goes off anything but perfectly. Sparking a summer of rage with T20 version 2.0 is probably not ideal.

I completely understand why you want to create buzz around new things, but do it yourself. Have an in game auction (silent or otherwise) to spread them.

Tl;dr
Do not destroy the more we've help create with adding more gold magnates or guardian vexors. I strongly recommend against using third parties to distribute new things.
