...I really couldn't believe what I heard earlier on the news.

so yeah, a burglar hits a patisserie. owner, wife and owner's father are there, owner's father get shot in the hip, second shot flies out but its nobody. burglar gets smacked down by the trio, cops arrive, arrest the burglar.
court condemns him to a 4-year jail sentence and a 18.000€ fine.

ok seems nice, but...

besides him appealing for a new trial, he actually made a lawsuit against the 3 victims for roughing him up a bit, demanding 15.000€. said lawsuit was accepted by the court and there's a trial about it going at the moment too.

....****, where do I sign up for political refugee? I'm getting extremely tired of this piece of crap country.

When you find out, let me know. I want to abandon the sinking ship the UK is rapidly becoming.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

God help you here in America if someone breaks into your house and you conk them on the head or something and they have not somehow injured you first.

The laws now imply that the perpetrator could have potentially been entering by mistake or something.

Shoot and kill them, and usually their family sues you for wrongful death.

Things will not go well for you at trial at all.

My father (RIP) used to say "We have too many Civil rights" which of course made me angry. But honestly, I'm starting to understand what he was really talking about.

That's be great but there is a 1982 UN Resolution forbidding anything resembling "Sea-Steading".

Meanhwile in 'murica, you can have a car crash, ask for help knocking on someone's door, and end up shot dead by a cop.

Maybe he should have been armed and shoot the cops first... It's a funny place, the land where the more firearms they owe for their safety, the less safe it becomes to be unarmed or don't shoot first. Roll

I like the way you think.

I hear Chinas laws are pretty sound in a logical way.

What the hell is a patisserie?

No worries though... if it goes to trial the jury will have a good laugh.

If it's a bench trial the judge will have a good laugh

With 32 thousand gun deaths a year shouldn't the US State Dept issue a travel warning for US citizens visiting the US?

Was it because one of them was hiding a trailer full of methyline there?

Depends on which state you're in. If you're in a 'castle doctrine' state, that's all exactly incorrect. In a caste doctrine state, once they cross the line into your house or legal domicile, you could basically kill them with an anti-tank missile, and you'd still be within your rights (presuming you have the necessary NFA paperwork for the rocket. Which you CAN get.). AND the intruder's family gets nothing but cold shoulder - A bone fide case of castle doctrine defense is a straight-up get-out-of-jail-free card.

Be more useful to issue a warning to stay out of US medical facilities - ~120K preventable fatalities per year in those.
