Hi everyone Shocked

I have been quite interested in making my own ship model just for fun recently and personally I really like the newish Venture as it has a lot of really cool shapes and textures to play with in a very high resolution build so may possibly get that underway soon.

Its not my first time building spaceships either. In 2007 I designed and built single handedly a 7ft long $6000NZD film miniature of a re-imagined Starship Von Braun and UNN Rickenbacker for a film adaptation of System Shock 2 (Completely theoretical for my honors degree)

I was simply wondering from a recent forum search on this topic as to how many people who play eve could be interested in the same thing? Or if even CCP would allow someone like me to do this with their IP. I'm not talking about mass productions of every ship in the game, more along the lines of very limited runs of hand built then molded/casted display models, probably with working lights etc.
For the Venture I mentioned earlier I was thinking of modeling that at a scale of 1:200 which would make its actual size 665mm, or 26 inches long, fully LED driven to include every strobe and the four main floodlights and engines. The rough figure I have been looking at to built it isn't that much, maybe around $250-350USD depending on how far I go.

A very brief history of myself:
I am based in the capital of New Zealand , Wellington
Have played Eve for 10 months and plan on many more as I absolutely love it ;-)
Bachelor of Industrial design
When I was a student I actually dealt with Asgeir Jon Asgeirsson and Cliffy B for design input on my 7ft Von Braun back in 2007
I've always wanted to work with CCP since my study days
I have been working in the feature film industry for 7 years
For 4 of those years I have been Senior modelmaker and concept designer for Sir Peter Jackson

Recently I have finished three and a half years making concept models for The Hobbit trilogy and while thinking about making my Venture, I saw a potential business opportunity involving you, the EVE community.

Now I have no idea if anything will come of this, CCP may shut this down immediately, the EVE community may shut this down immediately, who knows? If anything I would really like to see what someone at CCP thinks about this.
The point is, I really enjoy EVE and the story around it, I'm highly skilled and passionate and want to build my own ship again, maybe even build quite a few!

I welcome every troll an positive/negative comment to see what you think.

Here is a link to a handful of photos of the 7ft miniature from 2007.

Thanks everyone, I know that was a bit of a read!

That would be great.

Honestly though, especially at your professional level (which I will believe while pouring salt down my gullet) your best bet would have been to run this by CCP in private first.

That is my first problem, I simply do now know how I would go about this. If you are able to point me in the right direction that would be great.

I would like to see eve ships as Christmas ornaments, similar to the hallmark star trek ornaments.
Man I would have fun setting up the christmas tree with mock battles.

Me too, I'm sure they will as I have contacted them directly now.

One could definitely commission a piece directly, I'm currently looking at the logistics of that. Customs, Shipping, legal etc. etc.

Kiwi feature film...

A feature film about Kiwi fruit??!

It must be code.. It's pron isn't it???

Seriously however, I wish you the best of luck, what you do is almost a lost art due to CGI, IMHO. I used to know several people in that business back when John Dykstra was the go-to guy for this stuff in the 80's. I learned a lot of respect for their craft watching them.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

Or he'll at least point in the right direction......if Falcon becomes 'Slow Falcon' for some reason (because of Falcon Lol)

$200+ is a bit steep but i woul dbe willing to pay for smaller less costly models..Megathron and Tempest would be amazing.

You're welcome.

I actually do believe you, because nobody would in their right mind claim a WETA/Sir PJ connection here as that would definitely be checked out for truth, post haste.

A fail-lie on that info would collapse the whole thing.

Wow. What an amazing genius he was.

The only one I ever met of that troop was Harrison Ellenshaw who did most the SW:IV matte paintings. He came to a convention in Houston in 1980 and brought the one for the Tractor Beam Chasm for display (you could see Exacto knife cutouts all over it).
