Moving goods...

I'm in my second month of playing, and through some coercion I have acquired a couple fully equipped Ravens and Drakes. A real life friend had left them for me, the problem is.. they are in low sec space. And I cant find a buyer (or dont know how to find one) in the area the ships are in. I can't move the Ravens obviously because they are massive.

My question is a newbie one.

How can I sell these Ravens for a fair price at such a remote location? (or move them to a trade hub)

Hmm, well would I try and sell it as a contract or would I pay someone to move it? I'm very new to this

you can contract red frog or some well known frieghting corp. to ship them to you at x amount per jump typically.

red-frog.org

that might be an option for you.

I think the best option is to repackage them and set up a contract to carry them to high sec, specially to one of the main tradding hubs where you can sell them for a fair price quickly most of the time. Unless they have very expensive rigs mounted on them, which, in case you don't know, are destroyed if you repackage the ships, contrary to modules that are simply placed in your hangar. Contact Black Frog (reliable hauling corp) if you want that done on the most reliable way possible.

Another option is to sell them with trade contracts if they have expensive rigs. You won't have to haul them but you'll need to contact the major corps in the area offering the ships to them or spam the contract in the local chat. Don't trust anyone who offers to haul the ships for you in that case.

Wow, I didnt know such a service existed. I'll contact them because the rigs are nothing special. Not worth anywhere near what the base ship+modules are worth. Thank you all for the help!

Some ideas:

1) Try to sell it with a contract. As all contracts are searchable from everywhere, you might find a buyer. (Expect to offer a rebate though - maybe make that contract an auction.)

2) Repackage it and find someone to move it. This will destroy the rigs (which are probably worth ~30 million ISK), but an assembled raven does not fit into a jump freighter and I know no one that would use a normal freighter in low-sec. Or find someone with a carrier that can bring it to a low-sec system bordering high-sec. You'll probably have to pay quite a lot of ISK though, especially when factoring in the rig loss - for that much of a rebate you might actually find someone willing to buy it via contract where it is.

3) Find out why they are in low-sec. After all, there must be a reason. Maybe that system is good for running FW missions or something like that. In that case you might even find someone willing to pay extra for having a Raven already there.

4) Try to fly it out yourself (this assumes that you can sit in the Raven). With safespots in every systems on the way and an alt to scout for you, this can be done in relative safety if you know what you are doing. If the system is bordering high-sec, you don't even need an alt, just wait for a quite moment and make the jump.

I checked with a courier service, 125 million to get it all moved!! very tempting... The estimated value at the station is around 700 million i believe.. maybe that would be worth it! I don't have many communications or hookups ingame, so I doubt i'd be able to find a buyer to get it out in some random unsafe location. But I hadnt considered that the Ravens may be there for a good reason.
Thanks for the help, you gave me a lot of options I didnt consider

All the ships are currently fitted, i'm guessing ill have to fly there to strip them and repackage them?

Given that the ships are in low-sec, and courier services generally use jump freighters for low-sec service, the ships probably will have to be repackaged. (Fitted ships can actually be transported in standard freighters under courier contracts, but jump freighters simply don't have as much room in their holds.

Repackaging can be done remotely, from the Personal Assets screen (right-click and select "Repackage"). Not sure if it's possible to repackage rigged ships remotely, though.

Well.. let's not be too hasty. Perhaps you should consider them as long term assets right now. After two months, I can't imagine that your wallet is packed full of isk waiting for you to spend it on getting them moved. Give yourself six months and allow yourself some more time to get a feel for the tools in the game, particularly contracts, and the way the market works.

Who knows, you may join a corp where your ships are stored, or you may decide you like low-sec PVP and want to use it to harass miners, mission runners, etc. You probably really don't know yet.. so just keep making isk the way you have been thus far and you'll know when you think you can handle what options those ships give you.
