EVE client maxing CPU usage on a single core in market UI or star map UI

Any time I access price data, either selling an item from a station or from the market interface, the client maxes CPU usage on a single core, and the client effectively freezes for 5-10 seconds.

I get a similar effect when rolling over systems in the star map, when it loads the planet info pop up.

A brief search of the forum before rushing off to work didn't show me anything relevant to my problem. Is this known at all and hopefully as simple a minor setting or a conflict with some other software I have running?

Windows 7 64-bit
i5-3570 quad core 3.4 GHz
6 GB DDR3 1333, page file on the fastest drive at a fixed 6 GB.
Radeon HD 6870
Asus Xonar DS

I get a solid 60 FPS at interval one, around 220 FPS on interval immediate. I tried killing my torrent client and Soulseek, but I still have Raptr, Steam, mIRC, Trillian, Teamspeak, EVEMon, EVE Central uploader, and EFT running.

Going from Catalyst 13.4 to 13.9 (didn't even require a reboot??) alleviates most of this problem. I still get a freeze of the UI from CPU usage spiking, but the freeze is generally shorter than one second.

reduce the page file size. you cant substitute for ram with vram. hd's arnt fast enough. set it at 6mb's and watch the change.

Optimal page file size tends to be 1.5 times the physical memory. I have it set low to prevent a specific problem with Planetside 2 dumping too much to the page file and killing my loading time. If I wasn't running that one game, I wouldn't use a fixed size at all and let Windows manage it on a partition at the beginning of the physical disk reserved for the page file.

unless you are maxing out your ram and getting low memory errors, there is no need to have the page file set so high. 6 gb's on 1 drive is too much. it would be different if it was spread to multiple drives. 1.5 times ram is windows 2000 days. most have a default of 300 MB's. but hey if you dont want to even try what im telling you then have fun.

Now I know you have no idea what you're talking about. There is no implementation outside of servers that should EVER have page files on more than one drive. It should be at the beginning of the fastest drive in the system, better if that's not the drive containing the OS, and only on one drive.

Having a small page file at a fixed size runs into low memory situations where your programs terminate when they fail to allocate memory. At 6GB of physical memory, you'd think it wouldn't come up much, but Planetside 2, like many other MMOs, is a ridiculous memory hog that will try to load as much of its assets as possible. Browser open with a couple dozen tabs (alliance forums, sov forums, corp forums, EVE forums, EVE Central... adds up fast enough), and anything else running like Raptr or messaging clients, and you'll run into that problem eventually.

There are specific situations where no page file or a token, small size page file are appropriate and give an appreciable speed increase. This isn't one of them, GPU driver issue or otherwise.

I have no idea what im talking about and you have 6 g/b's of vram. I rest my case
