Probing - a joke?

One thing that I have noticed with probing is how stupidly easy it is to do. For my alt - all V in covops, its simple to get hisec and lowsec sites - some requiring 0.25 au sisters probes to narrow down, but never too long.

And then theres the 5 day old noob in a t1 probing frigate. He can still scan down that same 0.25AU lowsec sig, takes more time, maybe 3 or 4 rolls more, but there he is, charging to one of the cans he will fail to open, but why the hell bother to train if there is no benefit?

Yah. This is very annoying for those of us who actually trained all the exploration skills. With the change, they failed to connect training time/skill points to actual player benefits.

They claim that this change opened up under utilized content. Well, if they really wanted to do that, then INSTANCE all exploration sites so nobody else can enter once someone is inside. Do this and you would have a FLOOD of high sec players into low sec. (I'm sure someone will flame me now.)

But, make it so you have to COMPLETE the site BEFORE you can scan down another to prevent people from claiming a dozen choice sites and going back to finish them at their leisure. The "only one site at a time" rule would make people claim their sites carefully.

But yah - scanning skills took a big face slap with Odyssey.

Because training for a Black Ops or Marauder brings any significant benefit over regular BS or Pirate BS?

Because training for a super carrier over the regular carrier brings any significant benefit?

Because training T2 skills, read specializations and also many Elite certificates, brings you any significant benefit?

Except the benefit of hate and tears, training for T3's full skills (read all roles they can field without considering if they're good or not at it) brings you any real benefit?

This is how Eve is designed up to you to believe if it's good or bad, what to train or not, what to fly or not. Don't like it?-don't do it.

They didnt open up exploration content, they removed it. Not much exploring if you get rubbed everything into your face the second the system loads.

As for the scan skills they still offer a significant improvement, not having to use core probes is a big plus, with all 5 you should be able to scan everything down except 10/10, maybe 9/10 plexes with combats.

Great idea. +1.

CCP, while you are at it:

- When I die in high security space I should get my ship and modules back, slightly damaged so that I need to spend gold ISK for repair.
- High security space should be very secure, player on player aggro should only happen if I activate the pvp-flag safety to red.
- When I buy something, make it so that the items get delivered in my mailbox hangar by magical space truckers.
- When I want to do a mission I should be teleported to the dungeon mission deadspace site.
- If I do something extraordinary, like reaching level 10 1 Million skillpoints, I should get an achievement certificate for everyone to see.

Do this and you will have a flood of new mouthbreathing idiots valuable players in eve online!

No. But there should be a progression in the game - a goal to train to; a reward for your effort.

Odyssey has been one big bucket of fail. The signature changes to scanning have trivialized it as a profession. Yea its opened it up to newer players, but it also devalued the efforts of the older players, and essentially destroyed it as a "skilled" profession.

As for exploration sites - is there anybody out there who hasn't gotten deathly tired of the minigame? And the profusion of newer t1 alts now scanning has caused the price for exploration drops has crashed. Finally, exploration sites in lowsec used to be a source of reasonable pvp - after all you needed a combat ship to clear the rats which would be a potential target for gankers - and there were many folk who used to bait in exploration sites, seeking to turn the tables on the gankers. Now what do we get? A profusion of new players in t1 frig ships - not even worth the sec hit. Everybody bitches and moans that combat is focused on gates and stations - but when there is a source of pvp off the gates and away from the stations - what does ccp do? Nerf the fock out of it.....

What I hear: "QQ QQ QQ QQ QQ cry cry cry I can't get all the sites for myself even though I have leet scanning skills. Noobies should go away and let me have all the sites to myself forever".

If you have all the exploration skills at 5, if you can fly covops, maybe your place should be in null or worm space ? There you would not be flooded with new player.
It's like if i am max lvl at WoW and i go to the starting area farming goblins (never played WoW sorry it's maybe not goblins P) and then i complain that the area is full of new players who are dropping the price of the goblins' helms...
Go to end game dungeons !

And yes the new players can kill goblins too, it's working as intended...

Been discussed to death. I recommended a T2 exploration model in F&I. Opening the flood gates for whiny maroons is an understatement.

Because time is money, that's why. Same as any other skill, if you can scan sites faster and hack their data faster, then you earn ISK faster.

I also have almost maxed scanning skills, but I am not whining. The profit difference between me and an almost 0 SP n00b when scanning has become smaller, but there is still a massive difference. I earn more. Simple as that.

Well they could swap the stats of T2 and sister gear.
That way your training pays off.
Of course you will then sound like Ted Cruz on the forums about how your expensive sisters gear is now worthless.
