Make Exploration and Scanning Pay

I often find things when using scan probes but can't always be bothered to exploit them.

Should there be a mechanism to 'publish' the location of a find (like wormholes and such)? We should be able to sell this data for ISK (as it's the product of our investment of time).

Thoughts? Cool

You can sell most locations to players already.

i do a LOT of exploration, mainly in black rise/lonetrek/the citidel and only bother with radars and GSO's.

Everything else, ladar/grav/mag i just ask in local if anybody wants the site, unfortunately due to EVE's rep, everybody suspects it as a tarp and only twice have people actually taken my BM's.

Any WH's i find i used to check them out to see if they are vacant, and if so advertise the BM in sell orders for a few iskies, not so much anymore, WH's just get ignored mostly.

GL. With that.

I have found on multiple occasions a nice high sec grav site, even in a system full of hulks. I have offered the BM for free and got no takers.

Regardless of the mechanics of having a financial incentive to do so, most people will not trust anyone enough to run such sites found by others, especially in dangerous space. Even hisec has the potential of being a gank trap should someone with an expensive ship show up to run them. But, good luck.

Don't ban me, bro!

As mentioned, the mechanic is already there and no one seems to use it. On the other hand, I make enough exploring to pay for multiple accounts with little effort.

If I can't give something away, I usually warp to the sun, drop a can with the BM there, and make the can blue. I then say something in local. And if someone really wants it, they'll warp to the sun and get it. If not, in 2 hours, poof.

So in 2 hours, does the can turn homosexual?

Wow, really? How paranoid can people be : /

Why not take a grav site; who would set up a gank at a grav site that couldn't just hop to your belt and pop your hulk? o_O

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

You'd think. Maybe they were all bots. I had warped to the site and saw no miners. Nobody seemed to want high sec jaspet.

That could be because Jaspet was less profitable to mine than Veld (last I checked atleast).

Because at that stage its not a grav site, it's just a bookmark with no way of teling where it leads.

That bookmark could lead you to Recon 3/3 in your shiny... expensive... slooooow hulk.... or it could lead to some other ungated high level aggressive rats. In either case, you go pop; the bookmark dropper giggles a little, turns in the mission and goes loot your wreck. You cry in local (or in your tea) and swear never to take bookmarks from strangers again :P

The additional precautionary work puts people off : stop mining > go take the bookmark > dock up > swap to / purchase an expendable ship > undoc > check the bookmark for safety > redock> swap back to hulk > go to bookmark again.

Personally, I take bookmaks all the time. Half the fun is not knowing and taking the risk.

You're obviously offering it in the wrong places ...

And anyone who warps their in their hulk without running it in a cloaky first deserves everything they get..
