Hi all,

In a couple of weeks I'll be setting up a POS for the first time.

Are there any links to blogs/guides that can help me set up a POS and it's permissions?

Thanks in advance.

Tips are appreciated.

Thanks for links guys.

I had a look at EVE Uni before, and I guess I didn't look hard enough.

+1 to both of you.

Cheers

You really didn't. Make sure you have enough time before starting to set up everything. Between all the timers, fuelling and positioning modules you could be there for up to 2 hours.

^this. If you are setting up defenses add at least an hour to online them. They take 2 minutes each and you can only do one at a time (even if you have multiple toons to do it).

but on the upside -- the timers are A LOT shorter than they used to be

Also nice to give it a go on the test server first.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can set up POSes on Sisi.

I do know for sure that POSes are not mirrored there, for anti-spying purposes or something............

You can set up POS on SISI.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

http://www.eve-guides.com/poss/FirstPOS.php even has videos :) yes some parts are outdated (the fuel is now blocks and the timers shorter) but i found that very helpful when setting up my pos all those years ago.

perhaps due to English not being my native language I find actually SEEING how something is done to be a lot clearer. Specially with CCP and their.. well.. less then helpful interface :)

and yes you can try out in the test server first, but honestly if you watch the videos there you wont need to.

Guns go on the outside.
Hardeners go on the inside.

remember that you can both anchor and online everything from the manage window for the tower, you don't need to fly around to be in range of anything now.

Oooooooooooooohhhhh! That's what I did wrong. ;)

One thing I can suggest is anchor much more defense than you plan on having online at anytime, if stuff gets incapped you can just online more (assuming it isn't reinforced already).

EDIT: Also, remember to put ammo in all your guns.

Keep in mind that anything that uses CPU will shut off when the POS gets reinforced.

As far as permissions, make sure only people you really trust have pos fueling and anchoring abilities. Would be awful to have someone remove all the fuel from your tower just as a war goes live, or worse, to have them unanchor the whole thing and walk away while you're offline.

As far research and manufacturing slots, give other people access to certain tabs but keep one tab which only you have access too. That'll let you store your most valuable stuff safely while still letting other people benefit from the tower.

Also remember that anyone that can start jobs can also deliver and cancel jobs for the whole corp.

Best is to have your tower in a system with a station, and have a corp office in the station. This allows you to store the BPO's safely in station but still research them in the POS.

Just my tidbits. I'm sure those guides probably covered all of this, but I'm too lazy to check.

Deliver, yes. Cancel, no. Only the person who started the job and the CEO can cancel jobs now. (don't know if directors can as well or not)

Also of note if you are doing in low null or wh you do not want to warp to 0 you want to use a blockade runner and warp to 100 so you can go back under cloak while it is anchoring and onlineing the blockade runner will be able to hold the tower and about 10 hrs of fuel to start with you can bring the other stuff in with bigger ship once the ff is up so you can warp the more vulnerable ships directly into the ff
