Discuss! I just started playing BF3 campaign n the xbox , and it looks stunning, better that MW3 by far. Being able to develop something that looks as amazing as BF3 on old 5 year technology makes me wonder why people are still paying stupid prices for pc gfx cards! and developers not utilising them properly!

I'm honestly somewhat impressed at how well the Frostbite2 engine scales. I barely meet the minimum requirements, and the game is easily playable for me, both campaign, and online. I think my laptop runs it better than it runs Bad Company 2. On the opposite side, I've also heard that it both looks amazing, and puts a fair amount of stress on high end components. Unfortunately, graphics upgrades are a long way off for me.

Haven't played MW3 yet. Will eventually... but Skyrim first, once I have time to get sucked into a game again :(

BF3 snipes MW3 from a hilltop while it was running around in the open like a hyperactive terrier.

Oh, and if you think it's amazing on console, wait till you see in on a good PC. For the first couple hours my brain was in a sort of shock, reeling from all the awesome.

MW3 is good if you like an exepnsive map pack. It's another COD. Which is good or bad depending on who you are....but BF3 is just so full of awesome, and gives you so many options.

Also one FPS are better on PC, and two BF3 looks so much better on a PC, and three 64 player maps...

Ummm......the game looks 100x better on the PC. And why do people continue to pay Kotick $60 of their money for the next installment of Modern Warfare series? Because people love throwing away money on something new and pat themselves on the back telling themselves that the graphics and game play is WAY different than before.

Meanwhile in the PC gaming world, we laugh at the console kiddies getting all hyped up about a game that uses the SAME game engine that was used in 2007 with Modern Warfare 1. Same DX9 graphics, same game mechanics, same everything. They keep paying for a reskinned game and Kotick's laughing all of the way to the bank. People pay $31,000 for John Lennon's tooth, people are ******* stupid.

Oh....forgot....MW3 now has attack dogs with C4 mybad.......MW series is a joke of a FPS for people with ADHD and low tolerence for anything to do with thinking or a challenging game.

I bought BF3 for the PS3 - big mistake.

Not because it's bad, but because I've been FPS'ing with a mouse and k/b for the last decade - last time I FPS'd on a console was Goldeneye, N64 style.

So, I tried using the regular controller for this and simply got pwnd at every corner - I just can't seem to get back into using a pad, although I will keep at it as the game feels great to play and is very involving.

One thing that stood out was there is no auto-leveling, which I remember from the Goldeneye days (and I think Turok had this). What I mean by this is; everytime you've shot up or down some stairs or whatever, the POV would return its pitch angle to 0 degrees after a while.

Shame this hasn't been included and it does feel strange that if I let go of the stick: the POV doesn't insta-snap-back into position, like the stick does. It feels like partial control, not full control.

IF the stick is level - why doesn't the POV reflect this? Not seen an option for it, unless I really was hitting the bottle too hard when I was playing.

It did raise a question though - is DUST 514 going to have auto-leveling?

On MW3 - I haven't played this yet - but my impressions on the prior games were ok - seemed to be a little 'on rails' for my liking but certainly had some nice moments to it and had very good mission structure.

If anything, I attribute MW3 to Operation Wolf and BF3 to Time Crisis, that's my analogy.

Wow just wow.... you know console gaming have evolved the past 10 years or so?

No there is a 95% that DUST will not have auto-leveling.

You DO know that you can play a PS3 with a mouse and keyboard if you want, right? I just ordered it for PS3 as well since I'm still running XP on this old dual core 3 ghz machine and will upgrade next year. I also prefer playing with a mouse and keyboard but at this point I don't have any other choice since it won't run on XP.

EDIT: Ah crap. It only supports kb and mouse with certain games. Boooooo

Actually on PS3 there is a way you can use m/k using linux then it "bluetooths" the signals to the PS3. It's only downfall is you have to program the settings/sensitivity for every game. But it does work.

Hmm, not sure what you mean by this.

You think auto-leveling is bad? If 'yes' then you lost me, because if I push right and then let go, I don't expect the stick to continue to revolve the character - so why does it stay in the same up or down position unless I correct it myself?

My left thumb isn't doing anything else and I like the option of using skill to hold the up or down in the position I need it to be and when I'm done for it to snap back to central axis.

It's a 'look' function, not a movement function. The position of the up and down stick represents the current look position - if it's 75% up, then that's what it should show you. If it's centered, then likewise.

Doesn't matter too much in BF3 because that's something I'll play on PC when new hardware enters the market next year - but DUST 514 is console only (currently) and I think auto-leveling should at the very least be an option - allowing skilled players to customize their controls...not too much to ask, is it?

And in the last ten years, I'd be interested in your opinions on what console gaming has done to define an evolution.

The range of a Tunguska alone is far bigger than any mw3 map and the satisfaction of ripping **** apart with twin 30mm anti air guns is second to noneTwisted

I find it's damn near impossible to kill a well-flown jet with one of those. I can disable one that's flying low, strafing me, and even when I keep firing, they disappear over a hill, I never get a kill/destroy notification, and about 20 seconds later, they're strafing me again.

On the other hand,, I wreck helicopters with them.

I rather fly jets on big maps. I know maneuvers to escape mobile AA's and locks on a dime. I'd be the only jet pilot taking on the mobile AA's too -- guided missiles do work and kill mobile AAs and other ground vehicles without painters. it's just a really stupid camera mode to use..

if you got a cooperative squad, they'll call out air strikes on top of them. Two flavors: rocket barrage and blast the side of the building, the falling debris will kill enemy's rather than the splash damage from the missile. or guided missiles to deterrent tanks (guided missiles have wide splash damage and kill anyone repairing around the tanks 10ft). Provided that your wingmate is actually helpful and has heat seekers, he can keep a higher altitude to spot out the map and take out incoming jets or choppers.

BF3 wins, in the sense that there's a slight hope there might one day come mods for it that lifts it up to an awesome game like project reality and forgotten hope etc. made BF2.
Until then, both games are just dull, unimaginative shooters with another uninteresting plot set in (mainly) the middle east and eastern europe against some made up evil country/terrorist group.
