I, too, DEMAND the Easy Button approach for drones! All Sentries, since they don't move at all, should be able to insta-pop player Machs and Navy Ravens without a second thought! They're just too darned weak!

I have full drone skills and I get 800. I don't however have any guns active or any officer modules on EFT by accident.

Note that 800 is an awesome figure, and does not need improving anyway, but lets debate with the real figures.

You all seem to have left out a very important aspect.

Capital ships.

You can already get a group of heavies to do more dps than a group of fighters since the added the current mods.

Adding faction mods for drone damage would break cap ships.

Not that I'm against more dps from my gank carrier but......... The nerf hammer to follow would suck way worse than the current issues. I don't want to lose the ability to use these mods on my carrier.

Seems about right, 800ish what you can get to with drones. If your ship can use another weapon system on top of that though; it's happy times. It should be noted though; that this is with almost perfect skills. We're talking several months of training here.

Except that heavies are extremely slow, and fighters actually follow you through warp. For me, heavies do about the same damage as Gardes, with the difference it takes them ages to fly out 50km. I've not seen any data on this, so please if you have it link it here, but I've never seen Ogre IIs outdamage a flight of Einherjs.

Basically full gank fit with heavies or sentries nets like 1500 dps on a carrier. Fighters dont benefit from drone mods and top out at 1250 on a thanny.

I can't replicate this on EFT at all. A Thanatos as a ship bonus to fighters damage. Even without that, fighter base damage is higher than Heavy drone base damage. There really is no way a Thanatos could ever do more damage with heavies than with fighters.

The max I can possibly get out of a Thanatos, with max skills is 1743 dps with Ogre IIs, while I can get 1875 dps with Einherjis

The difference is in actuall applied dps. Fighters dont track as well as heavies. Means less dps is actually hitting your target.

I don't really think that 1 exceptional situation which can happen when you specifically fit 1 ship and attack 1 specific target from a certain angle with perfect conditions, should be a reason for not doing something.

I actually agree that drone modules need some love. Some faction/deadspace variants should be introduced.
About officer variants, I think CCP should double check, if they can even drop, as I havent seen most of them in Jita sell history ever, which seems weird.

Also, I haz a Officer Link Augmentor for sale right now =)

I have yet to see any DDA or ODTL Officer stuffs as yet.

faction drone damage mods need to come in as deadspace drops so it actually means something to run a drone DED complex rather then to recycle it back into the site spawn cycle, in fact all DED drone mods themselves wouldnt be a bad idea either, ability to get something other then a black eagle mod or having to step into officer spawn loot

How to fix drones:
Apply a role bonus of 100% bonus drone damage to the noctis, 10% tracking per-level indy level. Now fit a noctis with 5 tractor beams, lock on to your sentry drones and MWD around while they shoot stuff. Maybe salvage and loot from time to time too.

This seems like... not a good idea. With how powerful drone boats are right now, adding faction DDAs seems kinda nuts.

I could live with deadspace Omnis and DLAs. It's the DDAs that would be the issue.

Could it be done so that when drone takes more than 75% damage (or variable % depending from user manual setting) it autoreturns to dronebay and another of the same group or type launches and starts repeating the last job the previous one had,be that attacking the target or logistics.
Its only logical since with all the modern AI stuffed in a drone ther would be a selfperservation directive.

Definitevely drone could use a good revamp. Why shouldn't they have as many options as turrets and launchers? Aren't they another valid weapon system, with its own pros and cons?
My vote for a drone themed expasion. HUD, mechanics, even their shooting effects are a bit too old. For example, if I right click an aggroed drone on my drones window, so I can click Return to Drone Bay when its shields are about to pop, the right-click window covers the whole drones one, so I can no longer see my drones' HP...

deadspace mods don't currently include applied damage mods for weapon systems. its mostly tanking pieces and prop mods. IMO the Omni is very well specced compared to a tracking computer, and given how much more farmable deadspace is than officer, it would probably be a bad idea.

The only thing I'd say is that drone officers are particularly hard to farm, because afaik (I haven't looked at the map that carefully), there is no broken truesec for drones.
