[PvE] C2 WH Ishtar, is it viable?

So I've been trying out an Ishtar for a C2 to solo the combat sites, but find it a bit difficult to tank it well enough to survive when two BS are on the field at the same time (close orbiting one of them). I haven't tested out a shield version yet, knowing it will do more damage but lack the range I currently have with my armor setup. Shield also appears more expensive at first glance... I only have HAC at 4 right now but I don't see it making that much of a difference for blapping sleepers off or tanking them.

Considered some upgrades and module swaps to this fit but if it still won't be able to survive well enough to tank them until one dies I don't see the point in getting the modules for it. Should I just go for AB for Sleepers? I currently only use the MWD to get on top of them or in range, and sentry/heavy drones depending on range to target. If I'm going to use sentries I don't want to fly too far away from them either because they take aggro pretty quickly.

I'd probably consider this. Switching to an AB helps in 2 ways. Lower cap use and much better sig tanking. Yes the Ishtar now gets a bonus to MWD signature bloom. But the MWD still blooms the sig from 145 to 508.

By doing that you free up cap to put in a third omni, which puts the garde's optimal at 71km. And lets you switch to armor rep rigs bringing reps up to about 308. It may take you slightly longer as you cannot fly as quickly. But it shouldn't take long to AB into garde optimal.

Another option is to split the difference and dual prop it.

Yeah that is somewhat what I was thinking. My drone skills aren't all 5's so range and damage is a bit lower, but it might be worth a try. Also the repper I got might be upgraded, just got what I had the isk for at the time. Probably going to use the RF afterburner too, because of lower cap usage and higher AB speed.

Those fits are definitely overtanked, you only need around 200+dps tanked to survive C2s (if you speed tank with your AB). You want at least 2 DDAs, and a deadspace rep is a waste of money, I'd use something like this:

[Ishtar, C2s]

Medium Armor Repairer II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

10MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Large Capacitor Battery II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II

Salvager II
Small Tractor Beam II
Medium Remote Armor Repairer II
Core Probe Launcher II /OFFLINE

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Garde II x5
Hobgoblin II x5
Hammerhead II x5
Ogre II x5

Tanks around 265 dps cap stable and does 665 dps to 63km with Gardes. You could probably get another Omni on there in exchange for the cap recharger but it might get dicey with the anom that has the neuting BS.

Brutix is probably better at running C2s in almost all cases.
Also, if you have 2 BSs on field at the same time then you need to stop shooting triggers first.
(or just run anoms if youre running mag/rads)

EDIT:
something like this if you need a fit.

Brutix is alot cheaper and personally I'd go for a T1 BC as well, but the Ishtar has far better projection and almost the same dps. However you do lose some dps from pulling drones in to get aggro off them.

Testing out the dualrep version now and it seems to work well. Second DDA seems to help out nicely. Didn't read up on the triggers for WHs before I did my first few sites with the old fit (just figured it was wave gone = new wave).

Main reason I picked the Ishtar is no ammo usage, so I don't need to resupply it unless I loose a drone to something very dumb. I can fly all races (guns) so if I wanted I could have picked a T1 BC, but I always liked not having to use ammo for this kind of activity.

Speaking as someone interested in the idea rather than being an expert, but... are we talking about daytripping or working out of your own hole?

I like the Brutix idea, but I though general practice was that if you're ducking in and out of wormholes you should keep a probe launcher around.

Trying out all the things to do here in Eve - it's quite a checklist. So I made a blog Jakob's Eve Checklist

Living in the wormhole so no need for a probe launcher in my case. If I did trips only I would of course have a probe launcher to get myself in and out reliably. Self-destruct isn't really something I'm planning on having to do. Still not sure if I should try to just sell the salvage/loot directly or save it for production at the moment though.

I'm not entirely sure, but a single target painter helped keeping the rats off drones, it's also not thaaaaat much worse compared to a third omni.

That's something to think about yeah. Only drone aggro I've had today has been lights getting attacked by the frigates. From what I read in another topic here TPs don't generate a lot of threat, but some is better than none of course.
