high-sec and low-sec Retriever fits for solo mining

Hi Everyone,

I have an indy alt that I want to use for mining. I'm skilling her up for just some high-sec Kernite mining and refining right now.

I'm not fond of any loadouts on Battleclinic for the Retriever. (Actually, I've been a bit disappointed in that site. A friend in-game said that trolls hang out on Battleclinic. If anyone could give me another site that has decent suggested loadouts, then that would be greatly appreciated.)

What are good fittings for high-sec mining with a Retriever (and possibly a low-sec fitting as well)?

As far as high-sec mining, do you think Kernite mining and refining is the most lucrative? If not, then what for high-sec?

Any other advice is more than welcomed.

Thank you. I appreciate your time.

Fly safe.

Best,

You would be better off asking these kind of questions in 'Science & Industry' tbh.

I have never found any decent sites on the battleclinic site and wouldn't waste my time with it. At one time that site was infected with malware/Trojans as well which nearly did my previous computer in. Best avoided.

Consensus regarding Retriever fits is to fit for yield first & tak second working on the principle that you will occasionally 'lose' your ship. The profit you make should more than cover your losses. As a general rule gankers will rather have a Hulk or Mackinaw on their killboard. Retrievers on your killboard looks a little sad. Smile

Low sec mining is seriously not worth the bother. Better to keep your eye out for grav sites in high sec. They spawn fairly often and are visible nowadays ie don't require scanning down. Kernite & Pyroxeres can be located in high sec space if those are your preferred ores. No need to go to low sec for mining. Low sec is for PvP, pirates, and FW only really.

The only real use for Kernite is to sell at lvl 4 storyline agent NPC stations as it is often required to complete their missions.ISK can be made doing that. Outside of this Kernite is fairly heavy and therefore uneconomic to mine.

It's easy to do the maths regarding which ore/s are best to mine or just google 'Cerlestes'. Smile Scordite is currently still the best choice & Pyroxeres is pretty good too. Due to numerous changes made by CCP together with too many miners mineral prices are currently in freefall and it is hard to tell when, or if, this will stop. It may be better for you to pursue another career with your indy alt other than mining or purely mining but that is your choice to make.
