Hi, I would like to address some attention to the following thread:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=16766

I've made a ticket, but the GM simply didn't even understand the problem. The only reply I received was that I couldn't save my looks. Yes, I knew that. But I don't understand the reason. Maybe he doesn't have a 8+ standing yet? Or have a reason to use his clones?

Problem description:
Jumping clones resets your appearance to how you looked when you first created you character.

- Changing the look does not save it to a specific clone
- Destroying and re-installing a clone does not
- Having to re-customize your character every time you jump just actually use the additions CQ gave is a pain.

I'm able to run CQ just fine, but as it stands.. with the amount of jumping I do (about 6 times a week) CQ has no use for me.
*Please leave discussion about CQ's usefulness out of this thread.

Request: Please just turn the DNA reset blabla checkbox on the server off.. You're saving the character anyway when you modify it.. why on earth would you use extra resources just to keep the "old look" of the character.

At first I thought it would have something to do with modifying your clone and the buying of NeX items.. but then I ran into the following:

Once you create a portrait with a NEX item on, and then jump clones. The item stays behind in your hanger. I take it you see me wearing a NEX shirt? I've actually already sold it 1 week after I bought it with the free Aurum. People are saying the monocle is overpriced? Bullocks.. you can make your portait with it.. Jump to another clone, and pick it up from the station and re-sell it for isk. Basically just using a "PLNEX"?

They need to add a closet so you can quickly save multiple apperances and swap to what you want that day. Just like ship fittings.

This has been changed so now (or after next release) your clothes travel with you when you clone jump Big smile

ummm...

/me is a bit confused

does this mean that avatar appearance on one clone in metropolis will be the same after i recustomize in heimatar?

or will my shiny new pants simply stalk me from one station to the next?

I would like to have this clarified, too.

Do all my jump clones have the same appearance now or are they still resettet after each jump to their original "at the beginnning of incarna" state? Or do the NEX items just "travel" with me?
It's a pain in the ass to customize (and involuntarily generate a new portrait) my character after each jump in another jump clone. That's the reason why I'm avoiding jump cloning like hell for months now. Would be cool if they have it already "fixed".

I'll clarify the change.

If you re-customize now, your clone will look the same everywhere. This also means equipped NeX items will "jump" with you.

So if you're in Heimatar, and you've put all your sexy clothes on.. and then jump clones to Amarr. You'll be in Amarr looking exactly the same, with the same NeX clothes on. Basically just like the rest of your entire wardrobe does.

Only non-equipped NeX items will stay in their respective station.

The clones are once more only "implant storage"

Depending on your last re-customization/jumps you might look the same as you did back when Incarna came out. But I assure you the changes you make from now on will follow you where ever you jump from now on.

Sorry that I confused you, but Dracko explains it very well... thank you Dracko :)

Also, in today's patch we take out the (now) silly restriction that you cannot sculpt and then save your character with all the NeX items on.

This is completely stupid.

Why in the hell would your clothes travel with you?

If you want to do something as asinine as this then allow implants to do the same.

Because no one else cares (or can even know) what barbie clothes you're wearing, whereas it does make a difference what implants you're wearing.

Lemme get this straight, every time you jump clones you want your avatar to be naked?

The point of this change is not to make clothes move with you.. its to seperate the "visual aspect" from the "physical aspect"

Jump clones are used for two things

  1. Different Implant Setups
  2. Hopping around the galaxy

Depending on the user which is the first and which is the second priority really. To me its mainly important that I switch the implant set. All my clones are close together, but one is with full mining foreman, another with regular fleet boosting, the other with salvaging, etc..

The basis for this change is to really split the visual aspect so it no longer matters in what clone you are, you always look the same. And are no longer reset to a default look each time you jump.
Figure this, the regular clothes that everyone has available always already jump with you wherever you go. NeX items should be no different.

I skipped your post about having different implant sets. That's great you want to do that- I used JCs to move around but I digress.

When you are cloned you should get the base clothes you created your character with.

If you JC, you don't take your barbie boots with you.

I agree with you completely. Jumping should not take "items" along with you. But as you say it now, it has no point either. Reason being, that you create an avatar with NeX or anything else on... you "save" the avatar and your "screenshot" picture changes. After jumping, this avatar is not changed. The only thing that changes is the clone that is walking in your station.

What happened up till now is that your CQ character would reset to the one you created when Incarna came out. And this basically makes the character you see in CQ quite pointless, whatever clothes you're wearing. And if you wanted to see your character walk around in the station as you've been re-customizing it, with or without NeX items you'd have to re-make it every single time you clonejump. See, if you're not using the CQ.. there is nothing to this change. Yet if you're an avid watcher of your character.. this is a big fat deal..

And other than that.. I guess it is indeed quite strange that clothes jump with you.. but I guess we could explain that as when buying clothes.. you buy a copy for every single station you enter.. after all, you've got a personal hanger and CQ in every single one, right?

There is a very obvious answer to the questions why "clothes jump with you":

They don't!

Looking at how expensive the NeX-Items are, we can assume that we don't pay for the clothes themselves but for a service of providing us with these clothes. Once you buy a new clothing item, a copy of it is automatically delivered to all your clones. If you create a new clone, he will also get a copy and so on. Think of it as some kind of lifetime subscription.
The normal clothes we can wear could be standard clothing sets that are available in every cloning facility for free.

Problem solved Cool!

Sounds completely plausible, why else would a single t-shirt on the market cost 50+ million isk ;-)

Being able to teleport expensive items around without any risk of getting ganked whatsoever is bad design. period.

You are transferring your memories to a new clone that is kept for you in some vat. All that travels is a stream of data.
Of course you are naked.

They should have gone with the "only cheap orange jumpsuits as default clothing" approach.

Well, the two posts above you provide a simple explanation. Hope you're not still mad that you don't get to destroy people's NeX items.. because that is so 2010..
