An Ode to Nonnak Severin

Dear Nonnak,

When I first ran across you, I remember thinking "holy hell, this guy will be fun to fly with." I was not wrong. We flew together, you helped me build up my corp, train my new members, and pitched in in all manner of jobs.

As time passed you proved helpful in innumerable ways. Your other toons, Griff Severin and Jimmy 'Bloodaxe' Rustler, among others, were named in sometimes funny ways I can't quite explain. You broke balls mercilessly all around the corp, but for the betterment of our members trying to learn and cut their way in the inky blackness of space.

I was bemused by the way you would always try and unabashedly rip everyone off. It brought me great joy to see you mock the faction-fit Exhumer lossmails posted in alliance chat. I genuinely thought that my relative honesty and your utter mercenary greed might complement each other, and one day bring the corp to greatness.

As one of my triumverate of directors slowly but surely lost interest in the game, I turned to you for advice. When my other director changed timezones for work obligations, I wondered if one day you might not be the only one left.

I gave you director access. We continued to rat, strategize, and plan epic capers which would lead us to fame, success, and power. You even fueled POS's, you even helped recruit. I felt blessed.

Then you stole all my stuff and ran away.

The heist was so brilliant, so well-executed, so totally, totally unexpected, that I have nothing to say except "touche sir." You played your game brilliantly, and I played mine poorly. It was truly a job well done.

My remaining, dwindling group of corpies rage against the injustice. I am ruined, yet I continually find myself in the odd place of defending you. With a wistful, distant look in my eye, I can only regret that I was more fun to rob than to fly with.

Sincerely,

MIA

Tears perhaps, oddly absent of anger. Strange, that the loss the human capital dwarfs the financial.

If you think about it, it's not really strange. People are much more valuable than assets. But in the end it's just a game and we can be bad with out the consequences of RL, so most of us are. In RL I am probably the nicest guy you'll meet, arguably to a fault, in this game not so much.

Your story is actually pretty good, but it's only chapter one, make chapter two.

Great story, beautiful response, +1 internets.

I sense the two of you are going to do great things together, once you get your well-deserved revenge, of course.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Chribba is the Chuck Norris of EVE.

Meh.

The fact the OP names the alts makes this nothing more than a flowery attempt to prove "I AM NOT MAD BRO!!" while posting the often seen "This guy AWOXed me and here are all his alts!" post. So, I shall post the obligatory responses:

MMMMM TEARS

and

PROOF OR GTFO BRO!

And yes, you ARE mad about it. Stop lying to yourself and others.

Of course I name his alts. I really do look forward to him doing this to someone else one day... but since he made my game harder I'm using the tools I have at my disposal to do the same.

And mad? No. Upset, yes, mildly - 20bn-30bn of blueprints, semi-shiny ratting boats, a jump freighter, and a partridge in a pear tree are not easily obtained. I wish I still had them.

That said, they are pixels on a computer screen; perhaps others take the game as more than a thoroughly engaging "contact sport for the mind," but I view this as their problem.
