For my 2c, ploughing a lot of work into creating content that is at best forced and gimmicky, at worst immersion breaking and tacky, is a waste of time. EVE focuses less on created content with developers controlling your experience ("themepark" MMO) and more on providing tools to create content with and allowing you to control your own experience ("sandbox" MMO).

I'd hug you for this reply if you weren't trapped inside my computer. Sad

Lots of other WoW-clones do these, why not E.v.E.? I'd love it if CCP dedicated the winter expansion to Christmas/Kwanza/Hannukah-themed missions and events that were added in for a month or so and then removed after New Years. I think the devs are wasting some serious potential if they don't run with this idea.

True. Build a christmas tree above a nullsec station out of bubbles. That is EVE.
Having to download a huge "christmas" patch to have some snowflakes handed to you on a silver platter - that is not EVE.

Actually he said E.v.E. which means "Everybody versus Everybody". You didn't know that?

Nothing I hate worse than ******** holidays.

There's real reasons why your Eve character doesn't do /dance.

This cannot be said any better.

Worst is when there's some pseudo-RP explanation for the in-game version of the holiday. Everyone knows it is fake, and it is so immersion breaking it is not funny.

Every year on Christmas, I fit a full deadspace faction BS and name it "Santa's Slay" and try to deck the halls with as many corpses as I can.

Do you want a holiday theme or a religious theme? They are not the same thing.

In any case no unless the lore states that these holidays are still in existence and have meaning. In which case I wouldn't mind something that explained their EvE evolution and existence.

As funny as it would be to fly in santa's sleigh through space... and as funny as that inevitable killmail where 50 santa's sleighs took down a raven, I think there would be a lot of accounts going dark as a result. Big smile

You answered your own question there. This is not a wow clone.

Please go play elsewhere if you like that ****.

For a holiday event I think Concorde should be called away to a war somewhere so as high sec isn't safe for a while, think that would be fun.

prehaps a ramadan themed one where we are not allowed to covet or buy expensive ships/modules in the hours of daylight but can buy loads of them at night.
the not consuming ammo during the day would give the amarr a huge advantage too and they are the religious ones after all.
i also recently discovered a common theme running through many religions that could be brought to eve quite easily.

1. Rule one: thall shalt not kill.
2. Here is a list of people that require mandatory death penalties.
3. People will take you more seriously if you wear a silly hat.
4. I, your creator, might not be back in contact for a while so please feel free to make up your own crap and pretend i said it.

NB the above doesn't refer to the readers religion which is self evidently sensible. It is refering to all the other religions.

To be honest, I'd rather celebrate Burn Jita Day than X-mas.. having 'RL Events' being stuffed into MMO's while it can be amusing in themepark MMO's, or annoying/boring, they do not fit the style of Eve.

if you want a Chrismas event, do it yourself, celebrate it, get some snowballs and shoot people with them etc.
