Give me black forest gateaux or give me fruit and nut pound cake!

The preceeding statement is the 6th worst battle cry in history.

I am now going to find cake. Funky weird japanese cake and you cant have any. P

Ok cake story...An evil one in my opinion but shows the humor (or attempt at humor) the teachers at my college had i guess Lol

The college i went to was a bit more..unusual i guess, at least few Americans have any idea what im on about.
Its the kind of school that covers farm work, forestry, horsemanship and a bunch of other things (including rafting and outdoors survival, sleeping in a tent in -30 C is NOT recommended!).

But anyway... One of the things we had to do was ofc learn how to take care of the fields, which meant leaving the school area and not returning until late in the evening. This also means that you couldent get dinner in the cafeteria like we usually did (most of the students lived at the school). Two days a week the dinner was fish, and of course everyone dreaded it (the cooks werent the best).

So suddenly one of the other teachers shows up and announces that since we cant get dinner we would get a treat and he comes with this HUGE marzipan cake! Marzipan cake being my favorite i was thrilled of course Big smile

So we all sat down, in the middle of the field, dirty as hell and tractors all around us...a strange sight im sure, with a piece of marzipan cake each. Everyone being hungry ,since we also missed lunch, we start to dog in and basically all at once everyone gets this..odd expression on their faces and starts to look a bit closer on what we are eating while the teachers break down laughing. Turned out that it was fish pudding covered up to look like a marzipan cake! Evil

Obviously it was not enough that we had been spending our whole day out there, they had to make sure we really suffered Smile

But for me it dident end there.
For some reason my body dosent react well to any kinds of fish, so less then 5 minutes later i was standing bent over some poor peoples fence and throwing up in their bushes Lol

For some odd reason i always get suspicious whenever someone gives me marzipan cake ever since Smile

Hmmm...

Well, my ex wife melted our wedding cake the day before the "blessed" event...

Yeah, good thing I was a baker/cake decorator at the time...

But then I still couldn't help myself from giggling as I left her in the middle of the floor crying with a power drill, cleaning out the custom pillars for it, to go get a new cake made.
Go ahead... Get your Wham on!!!

I hereby demand that the hamsters powering the image server have no cake today, as 9 hours later they still haven't processed my new portrait. Evil

I also want to comment that guinea pig pie is not unknown in some places of the world...

I am a bit concerned about the lack of on topic discussion about cake.

I love the sentry gun changes from Retribution. Pirates can now have their cake and eat it too, which is awesome.

Is Eggnog not liquid cake?

http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/eggnog/

Only missing flour.

You put flour in my 'nog, and we're going to have... words.Evil

Um, er...

Evil

Oh... Wait. Never mind. That'll be just fine then.
Carry on!

(Just save me some un-tampered-with 'Nog, and we're still good. Oh, and maybe a nice bottle of brandy.)

You can store it at room temperature for 2-3 days, or in the freezer for a month. Enjoy!

No you can't. It has to still be present in order to store it. And it'll be gone in hours, if not minutes.

Also: Wondering if a touch of Nutmeg wouldn't make it even better..? Time to experiment... Twisted

I'm married to a cakemaking 3-D artist, I have no regrets about my choices in life. =)

I do love her tendency to mold chocolate leaves from redcurrant leaves. Homemade strawberry-rubarbjam is an awesome thing in cake...

Here's one of her cakes for her 30th birthday: http://www.villaviola1.blogspot.se/2013/09/30.html

She made an almost identical for her colleagues at http://www.magoo3dstudios.com/

Mmm... cake... Now I'm hungry...

fridge cake is kinda nice too

chocolate, lots (melt in a bowl over a pan of boiling water)

mix together in a large bowl:-

currants, raisins, cherries etc
broken up digestive or hobnob biscuitss, shortbread biscuits etc
rice crispies

place mixture in baking tray
pour over melted chocolate
place in fridge till chocolate has set

cut into squares, or just break into chuinks for the rugged mancake look.

Is there an official, universal definition of cake? Isn't whatever you feel is a cake, a cake?

I can confirm that the Image Server Rending Boxes were having issues from 16 Sep @ 17:45 and had only fully caught up half a day later on 17 Sep @ 11:15. We apologise for this outage. But you got it all wrong, it was because of lack of cake, so we are feeding them even more cake!
