I hate wasting time and making new threads but the "locked" and "stickied" thread about "broken launchers" (a point in instelf that there's a sticky for broken launchers) just has like three recent pages of people saying the launcher breaks at 15% but I don't see any answers or replies from anyone who can help. My only fix is to reinstall the game completely.

I waited 3 days for a support ticket to tell me to delete a file then rerun the patcher and they'll get back to me. Of course that did nothing and I had to reinstall the game.

Tired of having to reinstall the game after every patch.

I can't be the only one crying in the corner wondering why this keeps happening...sniff.

Please help!

Tell me you too just cave and reinstall than deal with support tickets!

The solution is within the problem.

Don't use Windows 8.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

Window 7 man still workin fine for meBig smile. I may get window 8 when window 9 comes out, That means 8 will work fine and 9 will be buggy as a buggintonville town hall meeting about bugs.

I run Eve fine on Windows 8, one time I had to use the repair tool but that was a problem many people had, wasn't specific to Windows 8.

Windows 8 is fine. Have you perhaps posted in the forum that deals with technical issues where this has been discussed to death?

I'm running the game on Win8 on two different boxes. It runs fine for me - it's not a Win8 issue.

There's real reasons why your Eve character doesn't do /dance.

Yes.

I went to your link.

Here's the must read: Known Issues

http://community.eveonline.com/updates/knownissues.asp

See. Very helpful.

This game has worked fine for me over the years. I'm more saddened by the three day lag in ticket response and the reply was pretty much delete the manifest file and rerun the launcher and good luck.

There's very little if any updated information regarding launcher issues from CCP. Lots of people asking for help in those threads and very little answers.

I can't find a live link to a manual launcher anywhere. They all misdirect to the regular "download Eve main page.

I can fix this. Redownload the entire game. THAT WORKS.

Then they patch it and it breaks. It's like the most annoying bug.

It's a big huge loop.

Did you try what they said here:

No issues whatsoever here with EVE and windows 8.

I had no issues until about two weeks ago out of nowhere. Prior to that it worked flawless.

Thank you but that did not work. Seems I have a much more updated link.

CCP seems to intentionally not POST A MANUAL download of the launcher.

These are all direct links the GM's send people for ticket response.

Here's mine

cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_571330.exe

which led to launcher version 2.1.571330 of the launcher. That was from the GM's repsonse but I have no idea what the current version is right now.

It seems you can back out the manual launcher download by changing the suffix of the web link if you have the current version of the launcher which they also don't post.

Anyone have the most current version of the launcher?

(also: my issue, it crashing the way it does never seems to ever have a resolution given by the staff. It's just "run the repair" or "download the manual link". You never see people say "Yeah that worked@")

You might not be seeing the Win8 people posting issues because we don't have issues.

Why not completely deleteing the game from your machine and installing from scratch.

Why?

I have been using WIndows 8.1 preview and Eve hasn't crashed once, no launchers issues, in fact its all pretty boring, everything just works fine :)

When people blame the OS is usually down to there own lack of knowledge so they just jump on what ever bandwagon is popular, i.e Its all Windows Fault.

I use win 7 64bit and this problem has come since 1.1 only with an exception on every update .. I have downloaded and reinstalled the game 8 times in the last couple of weeks .. since 1.1 only my pc has not changed.... thats everytime there has been an update since 1.1 .. not 8 times in one day.. It works fine until after downtime if there is an update. previous to yesterdays update I had a couple of days where i could play freely without downloading 5gigs which was nice.

I have been playing eve for 8 years and never had such a problem .. I have been to the 5 month old sticky thread which obviously have nothing to do with this new problem .. I have submitted bug reports .. I have submitted tickets with the exception messages the only response i've had are useless badgering from players and an isd shutting down my rage spam thread.

Many other players are experiencing these issues since 1.1. I expect some people haven't got the time or the bandwidth to keep downloading new clients so probably have not played .. I know if this had happened in the past 8 years before I was on fibre optics I certainly wouldn't have been able to re download client every day or so ..

We evidently need some old Icelandic devs to solve this .. the new devs are all too arrogant and self centred to even lift a finger beyond there own little crusade of ego.

Yesterday I was very upset that it happened again and thought about quitting seriously.. and If I do it will be 3 accounts after 8 years of seamless gaming and no one will get my stuff I will simply erase eve from my life.

Running Eve on Win8 on 2 PCs, never had any issue at all, ever.
(not saying the launcher doesnt suck, just saying it has nothing to do with win 8)

1. Update game with repair.exe
2. Run and log in with bin\exefile.exe
^Even people with linux can run the game using this method. If you fail with W8 then there is problem with your system, not EVE client.

If repair.exe failing - search problems in your network connection setup, firewall settings, turn off UAC.
If everything fails - don't use Windows 8.

Are you cancelling patches or running 2 clients to patch at the same time?
Seem strange that you would have weird patching issues while nobody else on win8 seems to be having them (other than the patch that was actually broken which they since fixed)

You think he hasn't tried this? ridiculous.

Repair has error after the patching exception .. the bin folder exe tries to update and causes some corruption in all the exe files after this patching exception. You don't know what you are talking about ..

many other people with win 8 or 7 or other are having this issue which you evidently have not experienced..

Happens to me on Windows 7, you haven't per chance changed any user details since you orginally installed EVE have you?

Mine does it because it was orginally installed on a domain user account and then the machine was taken off the domain and used a local admin account. Since then every patch it errors. I'd imagine its a permissions issue somewhere on a file.

I just run the repair tool and its fixes it until the next time.
