I also need a career advice and some questions about Game Careers

So I was reading the career guides on the web and came across this one:

http://cdn1.eveonline.com/CareerGuide/EVECAREERSGUIDE.pdf

Before I asked I want to inform you guys what kind of character I want to play...

If you've ever played the "Rogue" class in other RPGs... the agile, high dexerity, fast, and thiefy type.

Thats the gameplay style I want.

So in the career guide here above they have about some combat types I would like to go for.

Cloaking Specialist
Ewar Specialist
Scout
Sniper?
Speed Specialist
Tackler

I want to know if its possible to have a gameplay type to combine all these elements? Again, I know so much about this game in that department of ships themselves I kinda lack that.

I wanted to do sneaky type stuff but to where I can defend myself in PvP also.

Is this even possible to do first off? Also I would like to know if players can build their own headquarters if someone wanted to start a corporation for an example on a planet anywhere in the universe. Like would you see the actual headquarters of another player looking like the starter universities and stuff?

I'm sorry if this question is way to stupid . lol

hmmm,

Most of those combat types are PvP so I am assuming you are looking for smaller scale gang on gang conflict.
But more on that in a second.

One thing to note is EvE is not like most mmo's, you can swap roles.

For example I can fly a rifter to trackle, a scimitar to remote rep, a battle ship to pound something into next week or a hulk to mine. When I log in I can grab any of these ships and do that role.

Because you are a "Cloaking Specialist" does not mean that is all you can do. You can have a ship for each task you want to do and use that ship. Think of it as being able to swap your rogue for a warrior just by having more than one set of gear.

Now these roles each have a set of ships that perform that given task and training for a purchasing them does take some time.

based on what you have written hear I would suggest focus on tackle first. It is easy to get into as all you need is a ship and a warp scrambler. Once you have that you can work towards getting ships and skills for the other goals or refining your tackling ships and skills.

Now for what your career is......

Find a corp that does what you want to do.
It is that simple.

I suggest corp involved with
helping newer player(eve uni and others)
Red Vs Blue
Faction warfare corps

since you seem more focused on pvp centered objectives. The corp will teach you all you need to know.

AS for your other questions...

Stealth bombers do fight back for cloaky ships, as do black ops(but black ops are expensive)
but stealthy stuff is mostly against players or to explore without getting shot.

You can create a corp anywhere, but I suggest you join one as the other players will give you advice and help you out.

You can interact with planets and get resources from them, other players will know your there.

You can own space. This is the big deal about 0.0(null sec). Alliances of corporations actually own and control that space. they fight over who controls what and where and there a big maps. Control of an area is called sovereignty. 0.0 is dangerous as anyone can shoot anyone.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Sov

these alliance tend to be larger and a small corp of newer players will have a hard time claiming there own space. Fleets of hundreds of ships fly in 0.0 and fight other fleets of hundreds(there are smaller fights but to control sov you need to resist the big fights or have agreements in place with those that can)

Hope this helps.

You can fly cloaky ships but if you have to defend yourself in a cloaky, you did something wrong.

You want to do the special stuff. There is plenty of that in EVE. Sadly it's not overly noob friendly. What do you intend to do in the year it takes you to get decent skills for recons?

There are no HQ structures in EVE. HQ is merely a title you can stick on one of your corp offices. That might change with Incarna.

Oh of course I know its a skill based game and stuff its just that I didn't know which skills I had ot learn in order to go down he path i want to go to.

What you gave me was amazing information but what I was recommended though was that I specialize in something specific. However I didn't know that meant only in combatish situations. I guess more points in combat or ships type stuff is what people were talking about as opposed to combat and then industry and then mining or whatever.

Thats what I'm wonder because I don't want to mess up where I'm putting my skill points right now.

Is it recommended that I just do the military starter missions (all of them) and then if I want to go the path that I mentioned earlier... I just go mostly for the skills on the ships that wil enable me to play my playstyle?

Your list of skill interests makes me want you for my corp. Failing that contact me in-game and i'll give you some pointers since the cloaky route has long been an interest of mine :)

What that means is that you don't end up being unable to fly 4 factions ships even if you got them. Pick one ship (a proper money makes is a good start) and skill it up until you got full T2 gear on it. Boni in eve are multiplicative and thus, all those last levels for each skill end up giving you double performance compare to somebody who can only use meta4 mods.

I would do all the tutorial missions....even the minning ones.

No you have no intrest in that but the tutorial is short and it exposes you to that part of the game so you understand it.

Don't worry about training useless skills. It won't hurt your character at all. you can always train more skills. You can not mess up your character skill wise.

as mentioned specializing in eve is diffrent...you can specialize in many things and swap out ships and fits as required. Again for example I can fit a sniper battle ship that does damage 100km away. Or I can fit a rifter to tackle....I am specalized in both dpeneding on the ship and fit I use and am NOT penalized for swaping between the 2.

But I lack the skills for minning so I can not specialize in minning currently. If I did mine I would be very bad at it.

So chose a specialization and ship that performes that task and work towards that.
Once that is done work on your next specilization and ship.

for example some spelization i would work on.

Task I wish to perform----ship---skills required
Level 2 missions------destroyer---destroyer, small guns, gunnery support skills, tanking skills, cap skills to 3
Tackle------------------T1 frigate---warpscrambler and webber
Level 2 missions better-----t1 cruiser--Cruiser, medium guns
level 3 missions-------battle cruiser--batlte cruiser, gunnery support skills tanking and cap skills to 4.
Main line PvP ship----Battle cruiser--better support skills
level 4 missions---battle ship--battle ship, large guns, really really good support skills, tanking, cap and gunnery.
Sniper BS------battle ship--better fitting skills
CLoaky frigate- frigates to 5, cov ops

you can re arange based on what you want but it is a progression and at each step more specilizations open up to you. so even once you can fly a battle ship you can always still grab your t1 ship and go tackle.

Find the ships and specilaztions that require low skills and start there. then work towards the more skill point intensive goals.

Wow man! You guys are seriously helpful! Thank you so much!

I was advised to start as a Tackler and then move on to the other stuff that I want to do since it requires very less of me at the beginning.

One more dumb question... can tacklers do good in PvE missions?

I'm asking since this might be the best way I can earn some ISK before I get into the other gritty stuff.

You will not need tacklers for PvE missions (except maybe for webbing any frigates for BS sized guns to hit better) - they do wonders in PvP tho.

As for early money making in PvE - try salvaging someones missions (with or without consent :P)

: )

Also not everyone salvages, so a corp mate or someone may not salvage and so you can salvage there missions.

Also keep in mind you can have 2 ships.

your PvP ship would be a cheap expendable t1 frigate with a warp scrambler to tackle people.
your PvE ship may be a cruiser or salvage boat.

As above;

If your getting into PvP as a tackler, my advice is to stock up on fitted ships.

The most annoying thing about getting popped is putting a new ship back together again so you can go back out. Nip this in the Butt early by keeping 2-3 or more fully fit / loaded tackle frigs ready to go.

These ships don't have to be expensive, just functional if your a tackle so don't worry about having to save up tens of millions to do this.

You'll probably enjoy PvP alot more if a loss only costs you the 30 sec session timer to re-ship.

best of luck out there.

This is why we need a dislike button , when a post has enough dislikes it greys out.
