ship rental service?

I would like to try and fly other faction ships in missions but I don't really want to commit ISK to purchasing the ships.

Is there ANY corporation that rents ships?

In other words I pay you the FULL price of ship plus mods(mods are optional) as a deposit. and upon return you take get to keep some of the ISK based on the total number of days I rented the ship. Price negotiable I suppose. Ideally your ship is fitted with a mission fit.

I get to try out and fly the ship, you get the money. If I don't return or lose the ship you keep the ISK. If you can't pay me back I keep the ship.

Anything like this in game?

Every day in every way I improve my skills and get better.

Yeah its called contracts, you buy a ship, you use it, and than when your done you contract it. Chances are it will sell especially if it has rigs.

An interesting enough possibility, I suppose. Would I get into the ship rental business? I don't think I would.

New Eden demands big profit numbers to make your way through your space life, and this proposal just doesn't have the necessary profitary heft. If the price of that faction ship goes down significantly from the point where I initially purchased it, I might even lose isk on the deal.

Not an uninteresting thought, however.

There's real reasons why your Eve character doesn't do /dance.

Buy it, then sell it. The price of the rental is the difference between the two, with the possibility of profit.

this is something someone with a nice but of liquid capital could set up. but i am sure that if it was me and my capital. you would be giving me 110% of the ships worth that way ur more inclined to give it back and only pay for the rent.

I've heard of people renting jump freighters before. I can imagine its something that probably only happens among friends, corpmates and that sort of thing. Never heard of any sort of service to rent ships. I certainly wouldn't expect to get it back if I "rented" i to someone and I'd have little recourse against them if I didn't.

I believe some people call it the test server.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

An actual rental mechanism in eve would be a bit complicated I'd imagine.

First both parties would have to agree on the value of the hull. The person who is renting the ship would be responsible for fitting and rigging the ship.

A new contract form would have to be created. The ship would have to locked to the character so it can't be moved to another character.

If the ship was to be destroyed the value of the hull agreed upon would be paid out of the renters wallet.

If the wallet at any time was to be less than the agreed upon value of the hull being rented then the rental agreement would become void and hull would be transferred back to the person renting it out.

Yes to make sure this would be fair we would have to make this "New" contract" kinda freefrom.. meaning the person creating the contract would be responsible for determining if the contract have been completed. this "new" contract system would be safe and nooe would be able to scam with it.

Renting ships out isn't a great way to do business. There's no benefit for it, except for 'loaners' between friends or as a part of some insane intra-corp operating policy.

If your collateral is less than the ships' value, they'll simply steal it and sell it on the market for their own profit (and your loss). If your collateral and operation fees are higher than the ships value, they'll just go ahead and buy one and sell it later if they don't need it.

Or, if you have the money to put down, buy it and then... sell it?
Also... test server?

Sounds like a fantastic method to get rid of all my ships involuntarily.

Thanx.

This is not really an option because I do need to earn ISK to make my monthly quota. Yes I can run tests on the server but I need at least two or three months or data to determine which ship is really ideal for ratting.

At first it was missions, now it's for ratting? How anal are you that you need to use a ship for 3 months to know whether it works or not?

Might be viable with freighters/jump freighters. I don't see it happening with mission ships though.
