I recently purchased a Golem because math told me that I would make more ISK running missions in a golem.
The DPS with torps is disappointing, even though I'm doing more damage I still manage to kill a BS in three volleys. I can do this with my cruise missiles as well, only they fly faster and reach further out.....

I was wondering what others are able to achieve when killing NPC rats. I can typically kill cruisers with a single volley. BS typically 3 or 4. Is it possible to do better damage or is this the cap?

Maybe a different ship altogether?

Marauders are not the fastest/best ships for making isk missioning. They multi functional, ie they shoot and salvage at the same time. Pirate BS will out perform them for DPS application and therefore do missions faster and make isk quicker. Even if you do come back and salvage in a noctis.

There are no pirate ships that shoots missiles with bonus so golem or cnr is the best bet.

There's a little bug or stealth nerf right now that's giving rats insane resists on the last shot sometimes causing the need for an extra volley.

Golem is OKish now and will be pretty nice after the winter expansion as the 2nd post indicates. You'll be able to use torpedoes in a lot of missions with MJD or from initial spawn.

I would practice with it and hang on to it if you don't want to fly it. IMHO TFI>RNI ATM. If you have sentry skills up anyway.

Golem in a cruise gank setup is a good isk maker. I would hazard a guess it's more efficient than CNR just due to fury missile cost being halved. Torpedo golem is a bit outdated except for nullsec anoms now. The current marauder changes will have golem at the bottom of the lot for nullsec too, due to smartbombs not blending with torpedoes.

Max efficiency cruise golem would IMHO have:
• 2x rigor II
• 4x CN bcu
• 3-4x PWNAGE (put fury missiles into use without swapping)
• 2 tractor and salvager (looting meta modules is a big chunk of your isk)

More ISK compared to what?

How many TP did you use?

i find cruise golem to be meh just because i have a lot of angel missions and they tend to use a lot of defender missiles killing 1/4 of my dps. i am still training for t2 torpedo atm but the damage seems alot more consistent and with faction launcher and ammo, it melts everything very quickly. I believe once they tp cycle time is reduced to 5s and bastion module comes, torpedo golem will be the kind of pve.

Marauders only really shine in missions when you are looting and salvaging at the same time, however a lot of this efficiency has been replaced with the Noctis.

The changes coming soon will go some way to making this ship better for missions, but not a whole lot. Using Torps requires heavy use of target painting, and the ability to drop range rigs for rigor or dmg rigs after the update will help torp damage..

Yes I noticed this as well, my CNR can outperform the golem and salvaging is much slower making it less profitable per hour.

I think I may wait until the upgrades to marauders coming soon but this ship is already an expensive paperweight.

Typhoon. Haven't tried it myself yet, but a lot of people are enamored with its DPS output with cruises and sentries.

This is sadly true, I did put up a post once in features.. but it didn't get support for a Pirate faction BS Evil

Defenders are near useless for players to use, However they seem to work very well for the NPC's that use them.

I'm pretty sure they never stopped: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3404613. Instead, defender launches just became harder to see.

However, they do act funny against fast missiles or at long range, see post #10 in the link.

Is it not better to have one ship that can run the mission and salvage than having to go back with another one?

probably not as you waste a lot of time switching ships, aligning, and in warp. golem and CNR do very similar damage otherwise. just being able to grab a little bit of loot and using less missiles gives the golem the edge imo. hell just having a 48km tractor beam for the loot can at the end of a mission gives the golem the edge I think. (I miss having an open high for a tractor beam, even a crappy 20km one, on the cnr)

anyways loot prices are in the crapper nowadays, and will probably go down even more with that looty tractory beamy thingamajig coming out with the patch. so that makes going back with a noctics even more of a pain in the ass. maybe if you blitz 10 missions and then go to loot, but then you waste time with bookmarks.
