King Khanid II is a Rude King.

He is the Rudest King I have communicated with.

Upon Observing that it is King Khanid IIs 380th Birthday Soon, I sent a Message, conveying Birthday Greetings to him.

A Khanid Kingdom Minion, Commodore Arraz Nomarya of the Royal Khanid Navy, sent a Message from King Khanid II stating:
Quote:
His Royal Majesty King Khanid II spits on your heathen greetings and well wishes. May you burn in the fires of perdition, Sabik scum.

This is Quite Clearly Rude.

It is also Inaccurate.

Heathen relates to Non-Amarrian Religions. As a Sani Sabik True Believer, I am a Member of an Amarrian Religion. Thus, from the false perspective of the Khanid Church, or the Imperial Orthodoxy, then I would be Properly addressed as Heretic, not Heathen.

If I was Indeed a Heretic, which I am Not, since I am a True Believer, and it is the Imperial Orthodoxy that are the Heretics.

Thus, King Khanid II is a Rude, Inaccurate King.

Boo.

Kind customs curtsey to Kings.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I had a witty pun ready to be released to this thread, but I seem to have forgotten. Oh well.

But I will say that Mr. Nomarya didn't seem to be quite Khaind with that reply, Rude and Incorrect indeed.

If you don't see yourself as a heretic or a heathen, I don't see why you'd object to being called one over the other.

You have to admit that she laid out her proofs in a pretty logical fashion.

To be Called a Heathen, Denies that Sani Sabik is an Amarrian Religion. This Is Important.

I despair of making any member of the CotCS see even a vague modicum of sense, and I don't feel particularly inclined to do work that is rightfully the duty of the Amarrian clergy.

But...

Sani Sabik traditions and teachings differ so drastically from Amarrian religious orthodoxy that while the religions may have had a common historical root, it's perfectly reasonable to posit that they have diverged significantly enough to render them entirely seperate. Additionally, it's perfectly reasonable for the Theology Council, as the highest officially recognised theological authority in the Amarr Empire, to label pretty much whatever the hell it wants as either "heresy" (if it's a deviation from the orthodoxy of the state religion) or "heathen" (if it's a religion seperate from the state religion). While it goes without saying that the Khanid Kingdom does not respect the Theology Council's ecumenical authority - or at least not in full - it is perfectly reasonable (and indeed, logical) to assume they have some internal equivalent peculiar to the Kingdom, which would be in an equally defensible position to declare pretty much whatever it wants to be "heretic" or "heathen."

CotCS can, of course, claim that either of these appelations is a grossly unfair misrepresentation of their religion, because their interpretation of the Scriptures (which are valid within Amarrian orthodoxy), the Apocryphon (which are no longer valid within Amarrian orthodoxy) and the various texts of the Sani Sabik (which have never been valid in Amarrian orthoxody) is the only valid interpretation. I would reply that this belief regarding the validity of their interpreation is one they share with literally every sectarian religious group in the history of humanity. They can of course further emphasise that no, really, for real, theirs is totally the correct one, honest, to which my response would be midly apathetic feigned sympathy somewhere along the lines of "what a shame."

Of course, it is entirely valid to interpret the phrase "Sani Sabik is an Amarrian religion" in the context of "Sani Sabik is a religion started by Amarrians," as this is a matter of historical fact. However, the matter of whether it's officially recognised as a valid religious choice by the Empire (it isn't) or the Kingdom (also a no-no) is entirely a matter for the respective theological authorities of those nations to decide.

In any case, you're unlikely to change their minds by complaining about them on the IGS.

I believe you explained this rather well, Andreus. Well done.

I see nothing wrong with the King's response. I would have responded in exactly the same way in his position. The Sani Sabik "religion" is not only not recognized as an official religion anywhere in Amarrian influence, it is a revolting abomination of carnage and gore as well as a threat to humanity as a whole.

He did not accept your birthday wishes, because that would recognize you as a valid political entity. He was not being rude, he was being frank.

And for those of you who are not of the Amarrian faith, I cringe when one of you supports Sani Sabik, especially inadvertently. I have seen their handiwork first hand, and I often find it hard to believe they are human. They are not only heretical, but a better example those outside the Amarr faith would care about, they are horrendous murderers that are only rivaled by Sansha in the brutality of the atrocities they commit in the name of their so-called "faith".

Bar none.
