Hai, I have a question:

If lowest sell is 61.9m in Jita, and 63m in Rens, how does that = 103% profit?

(Yes, it is early in the morning, and I am pre-both-coffee-and-tea, so humour me)

Rofl, my postings were a serious discussion of this matter...

EDIT: also you left some posts that were clearly just answers to mine and are now completely unrelated to this topic! GOOD JOB!

For someone flaming me so hard, you do read quite a lot of what I write? I guess you never played poker. The 61,9m is as I see it in "the pot" once you invest them. What you do get back is 103% of your money, or 3% supplus. It is really just a way of expression how much you gain from buying those to resell. Most ppl would just calculate it as 3% profit, but the way I see it once you bought all the items you are going to resell, you "lost" all that ISK. What you will get back is maybe a total of 130% of the ISK you "lost"
It probably didn't make any sence, but it is how I see doing business like this :)

I will let you know if I start flaming you :) Although, how do you know what to pick apart if you never read the text ^^

I would get fired if I did that at work :p

No, I don't play poker, gambling is not a rational thing to do :p

so what you are actually getting is 3% profit, so you are aiming for 30% profit for hauling 20 jumps, or 1.5% per jump.

It would seem to me that Rhivre could be especially parsimonious with her words this morning (she *did* say she was pre-tea...) and is in fact discussing *both* the OP and the moderator. A linguistic "two-for-one", if you will...

Edit: and to answer Rhivre's rhetorical question: I generally find it saves time to attack it all...

To OP: a clear sign that you are a loon is that you think it reasonable to make up definitions which are contrary to the definitions held by literally millions of money people.

If every person did go with difinitions which where not contrary to the definitions held by literally millions of "other" people, we would still think the world was flat and the centrum of the universe. Thanks to a few brave men that went against what was contrary beliefs we now know better. SO that argument is kinda invalid.
Not that I am suggesting I am Galieo or anything, but this spreadsheet is meant for personal use only, so I don't see how I can't make it the way I like?

@ Rhivre: Yes, I set 130% as minimum. Atleast for Amarr. It is actually hard to find 150% and above for a highly traded item, although there are a few of them out there. I find that Rens atleast has more of them than Amarr

Good luck @ OP and have fun updating 400 orders multiple times per day because 90% will be undercut in every of those hubs P

It will be horrible but it could be worth it.

So just to clarify, 130% means 30% profit. Are you taking costs into account when calculating this margin, so like if you are paying 1% brokers on a buy order, 1% tax and 1% brokers on a sell order, are you factoring this in.

What I mean by this, is say there is an item for 100 isk buy order:
If you buy that it costs you 101 isk.
You then sell it for 130, but pay 2 isk in fees, so your total profit is 27 isk. Is this what you mean by 130%, so your raw sell price is 130% of your raw buy price?

Or are you doing like
Item+fees = 103 isk, thus 130% = 133.9 isk, or 30.9 isk profit

It matters because in this example, your profit difference would be 3.8% approx between the two methods of calculation.

EDIT: By the way, good luck with your trading. I will be following your blog, and am interested in seeing how your trek pans out.

Your 130% is basically a measure of revenue which is different than profit, and is a concept that already exists. You're not combating theory (as people who combated "flat world" theory), you're just using imprecise language for concepts that have already been discovered and explored. Please do a little more research so you can better present your ideas and thoughts.

Also, I'm finding it difficult to continue following. You either didn't take my advice on proofreading or you're equally as bad at that as you currently are at accounting/finance. I think you have a huge opportunity to learn a lot through this effort, though, so I hope you are successful at learning more so than reaching 1 trillion isk.
