NPC Station ISK sink(s)

Hello mine pretties!

Well, as i wait upon the servers to come back up, I thought, why not go ahead and feed another one of my ideas to the forums.

This idea is a massive ISK sink for CCP to have fun with. As we know, many NPC stations offer different services, from refining and research in all its type to, medical and such.

What I have been thinking would be a way to allow players to donate isk to upgrade different parts of NPC stations.

Refining: Some stations are as low as 30%, others max out at 50%. I think it would be fun (seeing as our market taxes don't seem to make anything better), too allow players to donate say, 1 billion isk to see a 1% increase to refining yield at stations, to a max of 50% increase.

Research, coping, manufacturing etc would follow a like patter where, first players could increase the number of slots.

manufacturing could max out at 50
coping at say 20
Time research at 20(25)
material research at like 35
invention (?)

players could start by donating 1-10 billion isk to which ever part of the station they wanted to.. once maximum slots for the station was reached, then players could start working on helping the LAZY NPCS make their stations more consumer friendly in materials and time. again so much isk per % increase/decrease...

Big thing is to make sure that NPC stations don't get to where they replace POS in the benefits... But maybe this would see a few NPC stations become hubs, where players don't have POS access.

One big thing to remember: This wont allow players to say NPC Station A only provides refining, lets add some research to. NOPE, wont work.

The ISK dump is to develop already existing stations abilities.

Another thing to look at is what type of station. Warehouses should namely be for massive storage. Give each station a class or role...
Production. Research. Trade. Storage. School. Military. Admin etc. Then only allow curtain types of research/production slots in those stations.

So a School type would say, provide 10 slots of each to players who are under "rookie" status.
Trade stations wouldn't provide any refining or such due to the fact that they need massive areas to handle all the storage for the markets.

I know my thoughts are scattered about, so if this is to scattered. I might come back and clean it up.

xoxo

CCP should be doing more to emulate real world economics. NPC station taxes shoukd be at 15% by default for sales and purchases. Refining can/should become less efficient over all.

how would this fare after being out there for say 5 years? it would be a bit like null right now where there's so many stations, but there's no way to get rid of them. you need to have some kind of decay too otherwise we'll just end up with every stations anywhere near anything being upgraded to max and it would sit there forever.

and maybe make it take something to do this such as you can just refine, or you can donate half the ore/isk equivalent to start the process then you need to fund it to get the changes. so RP wise it would be that you're refining something, while taking a look at the refiner than you're making suggestions on how to change it to be more efficient and finding the upgrades.

Thanks for your feed back, and I know my idea wasn't perfect. I do like the thought of decay. As we all are learning things are starting to pile up and pile up, and theres no way to clean them up.

Decay for NPC stations could come from a number of things.
- Over use
- Lack of use

There would need to be some kind of maintenance factor behind this.
EVE is I know a sand box, but as Caleb Seremshur said "CCP should be doing more to emulate real world economics"

I would say, step up and take that to the next level.

Stations, ships and other player influenced items should have a decay factor. Wear and tear you could say. I'm not saying something that would be super dreadful to the system.

But say, you take your mining barge out for some farming. Small amounts of derbies and other things will have effects on your ships "mint"ness

Just more real world emulation of wear and tear.
